There could be no starker illustration of the profound differences that exist between Washington and London -- despite alignment on many other issues -- than comments this week by our two leaders on climate change and the environment.
For President Trump, the Paris Agreement is a bad deal that will close US businesses -- perhaps even has closed some already.
Meanwhile, in London last week, Prime Minister Theresa May was launching the UK's 25-year Plan for Nature. Its flagship pledge is to "leave the environment in a better state than we found it".
The evidence is entirely against the world view of Donald Trump and entirely consistent with that of Theresa May.
My grandfather, Sir Winston Churchill, knew a thing or two about courage. President Trump is, I gather, a fan, having a bust of him in the Oval Office. Without Churchill's determination, the Nazis would have won the war in Europe. But this is equally true of his respect for evidence. You cannot defeat an enemy of markedly superior forces unless you have better information and make better decisions.
Were he our Prime Minister today, it is pretty clear he would have said the same things on climate change as Theresa May has this week. Because, simply, she is right, and she is acting in the interests of her people.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average crossed the 26,000 point milestone at the opening bell on Tuesday.
The Dow made the latest 1,000 point milestone move in a record-setting seven sessions, breaking the previous record of moving 1,000 points in 23 sessions. That record was set when the Dow moved from 24,000 to 25,000.
“Investors smell profit, more and more from American corporations. And that’s the bedrock for stock prices,” Stuart Varney said on “Fox & Friends.”

The ONLY way to stop climate change is to end socialism!
From genius to dumbass in three generations...
CNN = Counterfeit News Network
More lies from the Lying Leftist Media outlets that proved themselves during the 2016 campaign to be operatives of the DNC and intentional liars. They are presumed to be lying and we should presume what they publish is a lie. The presumption can only be rebutted with the outlet providing clear and convincing evidence they are not lying.
Dear Idiots. He fought Nazis.
socialism via code =environmentalism
stewardship of ones land is normal
allowing others to control your own land no so.
Churchill smoked cigars everyday. I highly doubt he gives a sh*t about his smoke affecting the environment.
Churchill would’ve laughed at anyone who believed higher taxes could change climate.
Churchill would have laffed his ass off at these lunatics!................
Bovine excrement.
This guy is a Wanker!
“Without Churchill’s determination, the Nazis would have won the war in Europe.”
Completely ignoring the entry of the US into the war, and the shellacking the German army took on the ill-fated invasion of Russia.
You know the best way, proven over the past 100 years, to "leave the environment in a better state than we found it?" Capitalism. Pure, 100% Capitalism that creates wealth and the efficient use of resources. Capitalism that causes society, in general, to use less resources to do more. Without it, our entire country would be deforested, subsistence farm land.
“Churchill would have been a climate leader”
That’s only if he were a member of the deep state.
The great delusion is growing in strength.
Hey dumbass, Churchill would have shot himeself in the head before serving as Prime Minister of a Muslim country.
This dweeb is using the same trick the tree huggers pull. They appoint themselves the spokespersons for trees and spotted owls, etc., which cannot speak out whether they want to be represented by these nut cases or not. Neither can Churchill speak out. If Churchill could, it’s likely he’d consider AGW the farce it is, and tell this dweeb to butt out.
