Trump's day of reckoning ... The one thing that could dramatically diminish President Trumps chances of avoiding impeachment and chalking up legislative wins is Democrats winning the House.
And, thanks to series of recent developments, Trump knows this no longer just seems plausible, but probable.
Hill sources tell us that a House Democratic takeover is now likely.
One strategist close to Republican leaders believes that a loss of the House is "baked in," and said top Republicans don't see a way to avoid it.
It would take a flip of 24 seats for Dems to take over. The average loss for the president's party in his first midterm is about 32 seats, and we're hearing forecasts of 40+ losses.
You cant predict outcomes this far out, but these hard facts scare the hell out of Republicans:
Eight House GOP chairs have retired: You dont climb to the top of power in Congress and leave unless you feel confident your reign will soon end. (Another factor: Chairmanships are term-limited from a Gingrich-era reform.)
Record retirements for GOP: Already, 29 GOP seats are open, a pace far exceeding the past two elections that saw power change hands.
Democrats outperformed their norms in turnout, and in total votes, in all seven 2017 elections. This is a clear indicator of energy.
Record number of Democratic women voting and considering running for office. This, more than anything, is a reaction to Trump and the #MeToo movement.
In polls, voters prefer Democrats for Congress by a 10-point margin. There is no way to spin this: +10 is terrible in a 50/50 nation.

I bet I could any given district showing that most people like their own Representative - and yet hate Congress.
Trump is only a man.
Unfortunately, he IS the only one who can do what needs to be done.
I feel bad if anyone calling themselve a republican do not totally get behind Trump.
And as a consequence allow the lying cheating stealing left get control of our economy again.
I guess doubling our debt was not enough.
I guess I miss high unemployment and 1% gdp.
I guess they want our country invaded by who knows who?
Because Trump ALLEGEDLY shithole?
WOW
Last summer and now are light years apart.
Several of the lamestream media outlets including NBC got together and formed an even more liberal propaganda arm.
Aw, Jeez, not this **** again.

Really? That is worth letting the democrats gain ground?

That said, along the lines of sober assessments, let us do a simple back-test of the forecasts:
“The new media narrative”
You got that right.....
from Hillary in a landslide to the House is gone for Republicans

The GOP is perfectly fine with losing the House and even the Senate if it will shorten Trump’s days in office. They want him gone!
I’m saving all these article and will repos them in November after the GOP crushes the Dims.

Instead vote for a right side third party - just not Libertarian.
In the vote counting it will add to the total right side votes and the GOPe will see the votes they’re missing and not be able to blame the loss on turnout.
Axios = New Fake News Site! Do we really need another Trump Hating Fake News Site!
Axios wont be scrambling in quite the same way. However, that doesnt mean it doesnt have any use for a major broadcaster. The site launched last week with a scroll-happy and highly readable presentation, not to mention a rather pivotal media partner in NBC News. NBC Universal is an investor in Axios and NBC News Chairman Andy Lack sits on the sites board. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, NBC News is among a few partners Business Insider and the Information are others with which Axios is launching events. NBC Universal has invested $400 million in BuzzFeed and $200 million in Vox Media.

I don’t disagree. It is astonishing that so many candidates run because they can, not because the public wants them. Dole, McCain and Romney come to mind. I believe you are also right that some of the “Republican” candidates hate Trump and say so.
I do like it, however, when the media makes stuff up about how well their anointed candidate is doing. It disengages the Democratic voters and engages the Republican voters. Quite the opposite of what the media wants. You’d think they’d stop with the phony polls. But they conflate high poll numbers with winning. It’s more of, “If I say so, it becomes so,” magical thinking.

unelectable fringe parties to effect change...a recipe for MAGA was success
This is BS. The Dems are not going to pick up 24 house seats.
They picked up 27 in 1982, during Reagan’s first term.
The good news about Montana is that hopefully the GOP can take out Testor; that would be terrific.
