Alabama Declares State Of Emergency Over Flu Epidemic As Death Toll Rises
Newz Sentinal ^ | 1-13-2017 | Daisy Luther

Citing a strain on “overwhelmed” health resources, Governor Kay Ivey declared an official State of Emergency in Alabama on Thursday due to the rapidly spreading flu epidemic.

WHEREAS the State Health Officer has reported that an outbreak of the influenza virus has occurred in the State of Alabama; and

WHEREAS this outbreak poses a high probability of widespread exposure to an infectious agent that poses significant risk of substantial harm to a large number of people in the affected population; and

WHEREAS the health care facilities and personnel of the State are overwhelmed by the number of ill patients and taxed to such an extent that care of patients may now no longer be provided in the traditional, normal, and customary manner nor is the utilization of traditional, normal, and customary standards of care possible.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kay Ivey, Governor of the State of Alabama, pursuant to relevant provisions of the Alabama Emergency Management Act of 1955, section 31-9-1 et seq., Code of Alabama (1975), on the recommendation of the State Health Officer, do hereby declare that a State Public Health Emergency exists in the State of Alabama. I direct the appropriate state agencies to exercise their statutory and regulatory authority to assist the communities and entities affected. I also direct the Alabama Department of Public Health and Alabama Emergency Management Agency to seek federal assistance as may be available.

Fully research smallpox, then get back to me.

However based on your personal attacks and baseless assumptions, I don’t expect you will.

I use a blend of essential oils in a roller bottle for topical application. Have not had bronchitis or any colds/flus in the 3 years since I’ve been doing it. I use an allergy blend as well. Haven’t taken any allergy meds for 3 years and I took them daily year-round. EOs work

Pa is getting hit hard with the flu now....supposedly peaking..... I went grocery shopping the other night and for the first time actually wiped down ‘every’ ledge on the cart including the hand bar....I saturated it! Washed my hands well before leaving the store too....and once home.

This stuff is really nasty this year!

We go to a Vietnamese noodle house restaurant. The food is much healthier than Chinese, lighter without being cooked with fat or additives. Mom-in-law likes the won-ton soup, while my wife and I like the chicken with rice noodle soup. We throw in lots of bean sprouts, peppers, and some chili sauce. I like it hot. If it doesn't ward off disease, it does provide for an enjoyable meal. Wife and mom-in-law are Chinese. But we like Vietnamese, Thai and Indian foods more so than Chinese, more spicy and less fat.

I take my Thieves oil roller bottle on all outings and travel.

I also make wipes with EO’s to wipe down seats, trays, shopping carts, etc.

Have to report I feel like someone worked me over with a baseball bat and I am sleeping 14 -16 hrs a day for the last 3 days, other than that I’m fine... except that I carry an old t-shirt with me as a snot rag.
I am getting stuff done but not much...
Worst part is I’m nearly out of Beer and just don’t want to go to the store.

I don’t take flu vaccines. My Dad was a Para medic, and advised against it. We grow our own food and store it away so that we don’t have to go out much in the winter.

I sometimes go through Jan and Feb. without even sticking my head outside.

If you have to go out, keep your hands away from your face, and wash hands well and often.

Where did that 10% number come from? CDC was originally, I believe, saying around 40%, now maybe down to 30%. From their website:

The 10% vaccine effectiveness (VE) figure reported in the news is an Australian interim estimate of the vaccine’s benefit against one flu virus (the H3N2 virus) that circulated in Australia during its most recent flu season. In the United States last season, overall vaccine effectiveness against all circulating flu viruses was 39%, and VE was only a bit lower (32%) against H3N2 viruses. Vaccine effectiveness against other flu viruses (i.e., H1N1 or B viruses) was‎ higher. The United States has a very robust network that estimates vaccine effectiveness each season. This season’s flu vaccine includes the same H3N2 vaccine component as last season, and most circulating H3N2 viruses that have been tested in the United States this season are still similar to the H3N2 vaccine virus. Based on this data...

OTOH, as I mentioned in an earlier post, it stands to reason that if a resistant or "missed" (by the vaccine) strain gets going, vaccine efficiency will suffer. But it's very hard to know that in, say, October.

Yep, I too know about that baseball bat. You did well, staying in bed. I drove back to Florida, the next day. I said if I’m going to die, it will be in Florida.

Pulled in the driveway at 6:00PM, Wednesday evening. Didn’t unload my truck, until the next week. That is when my wife knew that I was really sick. My Rem 700, 7mm Mag and Dan Wesson, 741, 41 Mag, had to fend for themselves.

The “old t-shirt”, still has me laughing. I was using rolls of blue “shop towels”.

Hang in there......

A few years ago a friend told me about Oregano Oil just after I had come down with a cold. Bought capsules at GNC and immediately noticed improvement.

Kind of a skeptic tho...so I researched it. As I’m sure you know, there are studies (available on the NIH website) which clearly show that it works. Also, since the market now demands “antibiotic free” eggs & meat...guess what the ag industry uses? Oregano.

I came down with the flu on New Year’s Day. First symptom for me is always extreme exhaustion (think nearly passing out..total inability to stay awake). Woke up with a fever of 101.5, horrible aches, cough and realized what was going on. Had the presence of mind to take 2 oregano oil capsules before resuming my slumber.

The only way to describe it (it has worked for every virus I’ve had) is that it makes it like a mini-flu or mini-cold...you go through each stage/symptom as usual...only much faster and about 80% less “bad.” Kept taking it for about 5 days. The fever/aches were gone in about 12 hours; the cough in 3 days (and it never got severe reached my lungs); the fatigue lasted for 4-5 days.

People can believe it or not...I’m happy to have it work successfully...also knocks out cold sores immediately.

Walmart is having trouble keeping cold/flu shelves stocked.

I guess the "Maybe 10% effective rate of this year's concoction and the development of a newer strain have piled up to mess things up.

The wife had a shot and I passed. Both got some sort of bad cold (doesn't measure up to actual flu) and took the symptom relievers and some Zicam (both nasal swabs and tablets) to help get rid of the worst - still have edges hanging on after 2 weeks but am able to do light workout exercises..
