In the altercation, which occurred shortly after takeoff, the male co-pilot allegedly slapped the aircrafts female commander, prompting her to leave the cockpit of the Boeing 777 in tears, according to sources for The Times of India.

I wasn’t there, and I don’t know how hard she was hit.
Being hit in the face is a very traumatizing thing for most people. I’m not convinced she was the right person to be flying the aircraft for a few minutes, until she composed herself.
He is qualified to fly the aircraft. I see no problem with her leaving the cabin for a while.
He should be arrested and prosecuted for assault. He should also be considered for an assortment of charges, related to attacking a flight crew/pilot, regardless of his position.
He should be fired and prevented from ever being able to be a part of a flight crew again.
Actually, it's battery (an unwanted touching). The assault (the threat of an unwanted touching) typically comes before the battery. So-called journalists always screw these terms up.
Perhaps she was of an inferior caste?
Has there ever been any Flight-related FR thread that didn’t have at least one Airplane reference?
I hate when the article doesn’t say what she did to deserve being slapped for. How else will other women learn to fly on Middle East airlines.
Apparently not. I don’t care what country it is...if someone hasn’t got enough gumption to stand up to that, I don’t want them piloting my aircraft especially if she is the commander.
As the commander, I believe she could order him from the flight deck. (anyone with actual experience care to confirm or deny this?)
No matter what, right off the bat, he should be gone. Period. Her reaction is a secondary concern to me.
Thankfully, NO!
Surely you cant be serious
Always something to keep in mind. We in the West tend to think that could never come into play and as such, discount it, but...if you were Indian, I can see where it would be a contributing factor.
They should charge more for this kind of entertainment.
Beat me to it!...............
We shouldn't believe those Hollywood movie fight scenes were the strong women win the fist fights:
The average female Army recruit is 4.8 inches shorter, 31.7 pounds lighter, has 37.4 fewer pounds of muscle, and 5.7 more pounds of fat than the average male recruit. She has only 55 percent of the upper-body strength and 72 percent of the lower-body strength
Have no idea.
The name of the twink who made a rant and slid down the aircraft escape slide, we knew right away. Drunk pilots, same.
Six days and no names.
Ann Coulter’s media/shooter philosophy comes to mind.
On the plane, or here on this thread?
I would think there would be many women would be pretty angry at the female pilot for her tearful exit.
“Commander” is a strange term for a civilian airline captain.
Anyway, were either of them Hindu or Muslim?
My thought as well, as they seemed to avoid giving her a more specific title, except for finally being able to get her to sit in the “captain’s” seat.
No. Never.

“This is why no one should ever fly on an airline headquartered in the Middle East, India, or any of the Asian countries, because you never know when you will get some deranged muslim nutball as your pilot. Possible exception would be Singapore Airlines.”
Including Singapore Air there are several other excellent airlines flying out of Asia.
