Michael Wolff has tapes to back up quotes in his incendiary book dozens of hours of them.
Among the sources he taped, I'm told, are Bannon and former White House deputy chief of staff Katie Walsh.
So that's going to make it harder for officials to deny embarrassing or revealing quotes attributed to them in "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," out Tuesday.
In some cases, the officials thought they were talking off the record. But what are they going to do now?
Although the White House yesterday portrayed Wolff as a poseur, he spent hours at a time in private areas of the West Wing, including the office of Reince Priebus when he was chief of staff.
The White House says Wolff was cleared for access to the West Wing fewer than 20 times.
Wolff, a New Yorker, stayed at the Hay Adams Hotel when he came down to D.C., and White House sources frequently crossed Lafayette Park to meet him there.
Part of Wolff's lengthy index entry for Bannon:

Some reporters and officials are calling the book sloppy, and challenging specific passages.
How could Wolff possibly know for sure what Steve Bannon and the late Roger Ailes said at a private dinner? It turns out Wolff hosted the dinner for six at his Manhattan townhouse.

Plus for yapping to a reporter/media ‘person’...

Good points; lies are liable actions, even if it’s a 1-party consent to taping...
Ping again, to Bannon’s liability still being on the table.
Interesting the way Bannon thinks when his "guard" is down, no?
Thanks for finding this info on Wolff!

I think we can finally dispense with the theory that some have that Mueller is secretly working for Trump.
They get it from here.

Thanks for that info!
Has Bannon said ANYTHING yet?
Yep. He should be dead to all of us. And now since we wont dare click on Breitbart if hes still managing, hes sullied our President and one of our national treasures, Andrew.
Sigh. And he was always so good at hiring.
Maybe he thought he still needed controversial figures to get ratings.
I also was thinking the timing was to distract from what Nunes is doing.
I hope it backfires though, by allowing Nunes to quietly go about building his case. By the time he is done he will have proof of criminality by nearly every Obama official, and hopefully Obama too.
They have to get immigration done this cycle. If they want a conservative healthcare plan, they’ll have to get that too. I’m more moderate on healthcare than some FReepers, so I’m not as uptight on the healthcare issue. Infrastructure can be done with Democrats if necessary.
That sure explains why Bannon made it through 6 hours hosting Breitbart radio since last night gushing about Trump but not denying a word that was published as a quote from him.
(BTW, Jack Posobiec was on Alex Jones reporting that “his source” said that the quotes from Bannon were Bannon explaining what Trump’s opponents were saying and so purposely totally misrepresented by Wolff. Jones himself didn’t seem to buy it in that last night he openly challenged Bannon to denounce on the record any quotes that were inaccurate.)
He said on his radio show that Trump is a great President and he supports him.
“They thought this was “off the record””
Just another example of terrible judgment...if you are a government official or spokesperson of any kind, you are NEVER EVER off the record. And you should act accordingly.
Glad I could be of assistance WH57. :-)
Pretty sure it is illegal to tape people secretly, without their knowledge and permission.
How do you know they did not consent?
I wonder if some of those interviewed, like Katie Walsh who is part of the Preibus group, are now claiming it was off the record when no one said it was off the record. I never thought she or Preibus were loyal.
She is the one who threatened to fire interns from listening to certain radio shows and going to certain conservative websites...She is an elitist, and from article:
Although the White House yesterday portrayed Wolff as a poseur, he spent hours at a time in private areas of the West Wing, including the office of Reince Priebus when he was chief of staff.
No Walsh is an elitist brought in by Priebus who purged pro-trump job candidates—wanted party loyalists in White House...

I wondered all day yesterday who in the world gave Wolff access, now I have a pretty good idea...
