Cuomo says New York will sue over GOP tax law
Washington Post ^

Posted on 01/03/2018 5:01:46 PM PST by matt04

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday that New York state will sue the federal government over the new Republican tax law, but legal experts are skeptical the lawsuit will hold up in court.

Cuomo said New York will challenge a provision of the law that limits how much Americans can deduct from their federal taxes for payments made to state and local governments. Many of the people most affected by that provision live in states run by Democrats, which tend to have higher state and local tax rates.

Cuomo, widely seen as a potential contender for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, said the provision is “violative of states' rights and the principle of equal protection.”

Andy should be more concerned with the bribe(s) Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance took to squash a police complaint against Harvey Weinstein.

Huh? Good luck with this, son of Mario the Pious.

The IRS should file a countersuit asking the court to declare the $10,000 deduction for SALT unconstitutional because it discriminates against low tax states.

It doesn't have to hold up in court. The goal here is to bog the administration down and run out the clock.

If a district judge in WA state can override an Executive Order on a Travel Ban, then leftist states can stop Congress.

Actually it’s the US Congress and now United States law. It is not a “GOP tax law”.

"Noo Yawkerz love to pay taxes."

Andy's only concerned with his friends in NY City, and the surroundings counties. He could care less about us in the rest of the State, because many of the counties are Republican. It was the majority of New York State that elected George Pataki in 1994, and bounced Mario out of office. Check out the county election results graph for 1994 on Wikipedia:

This doesn’t pass the giggle test. He should try to get Wisconsin to join him so he can have some cheese with his whine.

Hopefully my fellow New Yorkers will finally wake up and realize that Emperor Cuomo is an evil man. The tax reform bill has certainly put NY and other leftist states on notice.

I’m not so sure. He might find some liberal, activist, Nevertrump judge who thinks he can legislate from the bench.

Incredibly stupid, just a way to send a few million to his lawyer hirelings .... like Mueller hiring all the fired unemployed former Fed AGs.

I would have to disagree with that. The mental disorder called “leftism” has twisted both of their faces into something from the Twilight Zone (the episode with Donna Douglas in it)

Let’s talk about everything Obama did when the wildfires hit Texas. IIRC, he sold the planes that drop the fire suppressant.
