Dangerously cold temperatures will be in place tonight to ring in the new year for many locations located east of the Rocky Mountains. Locations across the Northeast and as far south as Kansas into Ohio will be below zero at midnight with wind chills of -20 to -40 for many of these locations. Therefore, locations from northeastern Montana into portions of the Midwest and Northeast are under a Wind Chill Warning with Wind Chill Advisories in place as far south as the central Gulf Coast through Monday morning. Monday's highs will stay below freezing for much of Texas to the Carolinas which is a good 20 to 30 degrees below average.
Winter weather advisories are currently in effect for western and northern Texas as well as across the lower Mississippi valley where light accumulations of snow and freezing rain could cause slick conditions through Monday morning. Monday evening through Tuesday will be mostly dry across the lower 48 with the exception of rain showers for Florida and snow showers the Great Lakes. Snowfall accumulations downwind of the Great Lakes are expected to be locally heavier across the eastern U.P. of Michigan and east of Lakes Erie and Ontario where additional totals of roughly 6-12 inches are in the forecast through Tuesday evening.
Needless to say, temperatures will remain well below average for most locations east of the Rockies into the middle of the week but some moderation is expected across the central and northern High Plains starting Tuesday with downslope flow developing. The Southwest will remain warm and dry into the middle of the week with temperatures ranging between 5 to 15 degrees above early January normals.

BScaramucci defended Trump’s (Twitter) remarks, telling CNN’s Dana Bush on “State of the Union” that he was not a denier of climate change, just an opponent of the Paris climate accord. Earlier this year, Trump withdrew the United States from the agreement, which is designed to combat global warming.
“I think you guys should ask him directly if he’s a climate change denier or not. I think you will find you will be surprised by that answer,” he said of Trump.
“He didn’t want to just sign it and go along with the crowd,” said Scaramucci, who said he expected the president to be proved right on the issue: “My prediction is, is that some time at the end of 2018, people will look back at him and say, wow, he had a lot of common sense by getting out of that climate accord.”
Scaramucci also joked to Bash: “It is freezing here on this beautiful Sunday morning.”...
Scaramucci also said: “Washington has this magnificent way of finding scandals to hit people with to distract them from their agendas. The great news about the president is: He’s undistracted, he’s undeterred, and I think he is going to have a phenomenal 2018.”

I remember Anding. I came to Barksdale from 8AF on Guam, following the flag. Not sure what Chuck did in the Comm Sq, he was not the Commander. He went to Air Command and Staff College from there and stuck me with his Cub Pack. Dr White was a trip. You’d swear he was just an old country farmer but at the time was the south’s leading expert in sugar cane diseases... real dry sense of humor. Half the time you’d miss what his point as until a couple seconds later. Good memories.

I’m in PA, but an hour or two east of you, and it’s 0° here, too. Well, actually about -10, since I’m up on a mountain and it’s always 10 degrees colder here. I can also hear the wind blowing outside, and the windows don’t seem to be doing a very good job of keeping the cold out.
We need some global warming, and FAST!!!
