(CNN)President Donald Trump's latest interview with The New York Times is a many layered exercise of political positioning, calculated ambiguity and veiled menace.
On the face of it, the President appears to undercut a holiday season campaign by Hill Republicans and the pro-Trump media to discredit Robert Mueller's probe by saying he believes the special counsel will be "fair" to him.
Yet Trump raises implicit questions about how he will act if Mueller does not soon end his investigation and clear him. Other comments in the interview are already prompting new concerns about the President's perception of his own powers of jurisdiction over the Mueller inquiry and the Justice Department itself.

Trump’s “I think he’ll be fair to me”, was Pitiful. He sounded like a guilty child awaiting daddy’s belt. Sometimes I think Trump forgets he is President.
“Trumps I think hell be fair to me, was Pitiful. He sounded like a guilty child awaiting daddys belt. Sometimes I think Trump forgets he is President.”
I guess you’re still only able to understand checkers. Trump is playing 3-dimensional chess. Trump knows exactly what he’s doing.

Yeah, whatever. Come back in November when Mueller drops indictments on team Trump. Grow some Streetwise, and get off the Goodship Lollipop.
I am surprised that you still do not get it.
Let’s be glad he’s president and not you.
This shit gets old after a while. There’s no constitutional mandate for either the FBI or the DOJ.
Shut them down and defund them now.
Their credibility has been completely destroyed, and they are nothing more than a political hit squad for the socialist-democrats.
We just don’t need them anymore.
Trump did several things in that interview:
- tripled down on there being no evidence of collusion with Russia
- drew the red line he is waiting for Mueller to cross
- made it clear he doesn’t trust Sessions to watch his back
Trump attacks the investigation and many in the FBI but shows respect towards Mueller. Wonder what his plan is.
When Trump gives an interview to the New York Times — a leftist media outlet that he regularly ridicules as “the failing New York Times” and a source of fake news — you can be sure he’s jerking someone’s chain.
P.S. — And when CNN posts a report on a New York Times article, it’s like having a comical news story raised to the second power.
Yeah no kidding.
Sessions is about the worst choice that Trump selected as a cabinet member. Sessions is part of the swamp that Trump plans to drain.
Trump is doing his usual....playing these folks like fiddle.
He knows EXACTLY what he is doing.
Waiting for the Nunes report, and for Mueller to arrest someone else for something that has nothing to do with collussion. Maybe throw in a Contempt of Congress on Sessions for refusing the Congressional subpoenas. Then Trump will have the ammo he needs to enforce his right as Chief Executive over the Department of Justice, which he alluded to in the interview as well.
Regarding Fake News. Trump gave the interview and certainly has a video of the event.
There can be no fake news under that circumstance
The POTUS DOES have the right to fire them
The FBI does NOT have to right to conduct an investigation in SEARCH of a crime - legally, they must have EVIDENCE of a crime first.
The FBI also has no legal right to "persecute [their] political enemies" (They're not even supposed to HAVE "political" enemies)in this case, the president]
Nor run a false flag operation in an attempt to deflect attention from their own 'High crimes and misdemeanors" -
Time for this dog and pony show to end....it has caused great harm to our country.
The DOJ and FBI are with holding info very pertinent to their investigation and which they want to hold close before alerting those to be indicted
Right. I’m referring in general to the obvious leftist political spin and outright fabrications that you’d find in a CNN report about a New York Times article.
