Breitbart executive chairman Steve Bannon has cut ties with Paul Nehlen, the far-right activist who is challenging Paul Ryan for his congressional seat and who has received extremely favorable coverage from Breitbart in the past.
"Nehlen is dead to us," said Arthur Schwartz, an adviser of Bannon's who is familiar with the former White House chief strategist's thinking.
Nehlen, who became a lightning rod for his anti-immigrant views, has escalated his rhetoric in recent days with a number of incendiary tweets.
In one tweet, Nehlen proudly revealed that he is reading "The Culture of Critique," a book about Jewish culture widely considered to be anti-semitic. In other tweets, he has used the "#ItsOkayToBeWhite" hashtag.
The inflammatory online activity has drawn fierce scrutiny from Nehlen's critics, and beckoned the question whether Breitbart, which previously published highly supportive coverage of his candidacy, still supported him.
When Nehlen challenged Ryan during the 2016 Republican primary, Breitbart dispatched Mathew Boyle, one of its top writers, to Wisconsin. Throughout the race, Boyle taunted Ryan on the campaign trail with outlandishly negative stories while simultaneously writing positive articles about Nehlen. Ryan ultimately walloped Nehlen by a margin of 84% to 16%.

But Breitbart and Bannon, a former White House chief strategist, have recently moved to distance themselves from him.
Nehlen, who previously published material on Breitbart, has seen his author page scrubbed entirely from the far-right website. Moreover, Joel Pollak, a senior editor at Breitbart, publicly denounced Nehlen on Twitter.
"We don't support him," Pollak tweeted late Tuesday night, adding that Nehlen had "disqualified" himself. As of Wednesday afternoon, Breitbart had not denounced Nehlen on its website. A Google search returned no articles this week about Nehlen's latest tweets or statements.

Let’s just leave it at this: Once the accusation is made, how does one go about proving that they are not an anti-semite?
Isn’t there a REALLY popular book that is often critical of Jewish culture? I know I’ve heard of one somewhere.
I don't think American racist need some one to champion them, and yet it seems Nehlen is sticking up for them. How is that a winning issue or a conservative one?
The Bible?
I’m leaving this one with you FRiend. Paul can probably take care of himself, and I’m not getting anywhere...
Whether or not it's okay for you or me, what makes you think a politician should be using it? There are a lot of things ordinary people say in ordinary conversation that politicians can't get away with.
While the "dog whistle" label has been slapped on to all kinds of innocent or trivial things, if a congressman tweets #ItsOkayToBeWhite, non-Whites are going to ask, "So it's not okay to be Black (or Asian or Latino)? Is that the message you're sending?"
Before you dismiss that, consider how often it goes the other way. How often some African-American politician says something positive about Black people and how often people assume he or she is slighting Whites.
Judaism isn’t monolithic. If some Jewish people are attacking you, why would you avoid saying that’s who they are?
That’s a long haul from “Hating Jews”. Like I said, once the accusation has been made, what’s next? What are his options?
The vast majority of ethnic Jews, with only a few exceptions, are Globalists of one kind or another. This is the true source of Nehlen's fall to the darkside, more than likely. Whether they're right wing or left wing, Jews typically feel--by their own admission--as perpetual foreigners, and react viscerally at any sort of policy that is not cosmopolitan in nature--except in their own country, where they are more hardcore than us (see Ben Shapiro who called for ethnic genocide of Palestinians in old Townhall articles, but criticized Trump's Muslim ban as "unAmerican" and morally wrong). This is simply a fact. I myself am of Jewish ancestry, so I do not say these things lightly. But I suppose Ben Shapiro, Bill Kristol, or all the other so-called conservative Jews who hate Trump with a passion, would disown me if I support any sort of realistic approach to foreign affairs or immigration policy.
Because any criticism of Jews is perceived as "anti-semitic," people like Nehlen end up becoming full on anti-semitic in reality, because it is easy to perceive the mas being an absolute evil when their voice is overwhelmingly anti-Trump, with only a few exceptions and recent, cynical conversions like from Mark Levin.
BTW, even the reference to scatology Nehlen made is based on bonafide fact. The Talmud is filled with stuff about people "boiling in semen," penises, prostitutes, long and evil discussions over what whore a person descends from, magic spells involving eating mud from the "shadow" of a toilet, strange rules involving length of time you can wait from peeing to having sex in order to avoid demonic possession, and many other disgusting and obscene instructions, most of which are overwhelmingly mean spirited.
The traditions of the Rabbi are as vile today as they were to Jesus Christ in ancient times. I recommend anyone familiar with the Bible to compare it to the teachings of the Rabbis, and they will see the obvious difference in quality between the two.
Anyway, the bottom line, Jews should not fear legitimate criticism, because otherwise they invite the creation of anti-semites through their inability to engage in any sort of self-reflection about their culture, religion and politics.
Never drink and Facebook. Never, ever, drink, read /pol/, and tweet.
This is a case of people with extreme in-group preference criticising people with extreme in-group preference.
You are being stalked.
[You are being stalked.]
I do believe you are correct. I’ll get him though. He’s obviously very crafty and nearly as handsome as I. Well, they say everyone has a twin.
Always uses the same type of razor I do, too. It’s as if he knows ahead of time.....
Nehlen could not even crack 20% against Ryan. Ryan has passed tax cuts now, and gotten Foxconn jobs a-plenty into his district thanks to Trump. Why is Paul nehlen even a subject for discussion at this point?
I think we agree that Nehlen has gone off the deep end. I’ll add this. I bet there are not many Jews in Paul Ryan’s district. Even in an academic sense, I don’t see why Nehlen is indulging in these types of discussions. If you notice from one of the comments, he tends to echo (the use of three parentheses on each end around the name of a Jewish person). How does this type of alt-right provocation help the conservative movement? He’s a poor candidate with bad judgment at best.
Holy crap is he antiSemitic. Pretty blatant about it too.
I guess you missed all the conversations here on FR in the weeks leading up to Election Day last year, when I had to sit here and try to figure out what exactly Freepers were trying to accomplish by voting for Donald Trump for President and then leaving the ballot blank for House and Senate races.
And if that’s what you think I meant you ate short brain cells
You’ll probably be OK as long as he doesn’t make funny faces at you while you shave...
I noticed as well the 3 bracket things with Paul. I also noticed when he challenged a Jewish man who self-described himself as white.
Paul nuked himself going there. My DIL is Jewish and speaks and teaches Hebrew. She is whiter than my entire family. I was completely confused about what Paul was talking about.
Sad though.
I’ll be watching him extra close. Saw him awhile ago.
He’s like my shadow.
And I’m keeping an eye on him. too. I predict 6 more weeks of winter.
