Selection of Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) as the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee was the clearest sign yet of how seriously House Democrats consider the possibility of a full-blown constitutional showdown with Trump.
Nadler anchored his candidacy for his new position, vacated with the resignation of Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.), on the 13 years he has spent as chairman or ranking Democrat on the panels Constitution subcommittee and, more recently, its courts subcommittee.
He also politely reminded Democrats in recent days of his efforts, beginning in the mid-1980s, to impede Trumps efforts to develop portions of New Yorks Upper West Side.
There is nobody better prepared, if the president messes around with the Constitution, than Jerry Nadler, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said.
Nadler had the backing of most of New Yorks 18 Democratic lawmakers, as well as many members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
After a failed 1985 mayoral bid, Nadler won his House seat in 1992 and became a force on the Judiciary Committee, particularly as a top defender in 1998 of President Bill Clinton during his impeachment hearings.
History and the precedents alike show that impeachment is not a punishment for crimes but a means to protect our constitutional system, he said then in his opening statement during the committees proceedings. And it was certainly not meant to be a means to punish a president for personal wrongdoing not related to his office.
Nadler refused to attend Trumps inauguration, saying Trumps actions inflaming racial tensions made him not legitimate as president.
By May, after the firing of James B. Comey as FBI director, Nadler told CNN that there might be a very strong case for obstruction-of-justice charges against Trump.

First off, once America sees the impact of the tax cuts the Democrats are screwed in 2018 and 2nd Jerold Nadler can’t see is own manhood unless he’s standing on a full length mirror.
Yep.
Bring it
Then the task of draining the Swamp will fall to those who aren’t nearly as kind and polite as President Trump.
Pretty amazing the dems are so concerned about Trump messing with constitution while they spend eight years watching Obama ignoring it....
And not a peep or concern
He looks like a dickfrom head to toe to me
The democrats should be tossed into concentration camps. There, I said it.
Trump is a grizzly bear. Don’t kick a grizzly bear.
Putting a fat slob from New York City in charge of anything of national importance is like hiring Jerry Sandusky as a middle school gym teacher. It’s not going to go over well with normal Americans.
If that happens then Trump should go after 0bama, Holder Clinton and probably for murder in the Fast and Furious case. With 3 a.m. SWAT raids.
Never take on a battle you have zero chance of winning. The dems have zero hundreds of a percent chance of impeaching Trump.
Fools blinded by hate.
“If the dems regain the house majority at any point in Trumps tenure, they will, without question or evidence, vote and approve articles of impeachment. You can take this to the bank.”
They will need to prove high crimes and misdemeanors for which there are none. Trump will take it to SCOTUS who will vote 5-4 for Trump. If it even gets that far. And if he is impeached, so what? He doesn’t have to resign and he could always pardon himself if it goes any further.
First things first. Democrats will have to win both the house and the senate to try something this foolish. What Democrats are doing is equivalent to a coup.
The House must vote by majority in order to impeach, and after a trial in the Senate, two thirds of the Senate must vote in order to convict and remove.
And maybe not even then.
I always confuse Nadler with Seinfeld's Newman. Similar levels of obesity and stupidity.
How’d you like to be stuck sitting next to that sweat hog on a overseas flight?/lol
Fat slob comes to mind.
They have taken on the biggest baddest a$$ kicking President ever. They keep it up, the Democratic Party will be on life support by the end of ‘18 and dead by ‘20. Mark these words.
Does anyone miss George Bush (either of them)? No? I didn’t think so. Please clap.
Either Chuckie is smoking the good stuff or he's despairing over the Trump signature on the tax reform bill. Or the ending of the ACA individual mandate. Or the recognition of Jerusalem. Or the mass exit from the EPA. Excuse me please, I have to go sit down. I'm dizzy. Too much winning.
