Schumer calls for GOP to delay tax bill after Alabama election

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is demanding that Republicans delay a vote on their tax plan following Tuesday's special election in Alabama.

"We Senate Democrats are calling on Mitch McConnell to hit pause on his tax bill and not hold a final vote until Doug Jones is sworn in to the Senate," he told reporters during a press conference on Wednesday.

He added that "it would be wrong for Senate Republicans to jam through this tax bill without giving the newly elected senator from Alabama the opportunity to cast his vote."

Democrat Doug Jones won the special election, defeating GOP candidate Roy Moore, who was facing several accusations of pursuing relationships with teenagers when he was in his 30s.

Jones's win will narrow the GOP majority in the Senate down to a single seat, 51-49, complicating Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-Ky.) ability to pass legislation.

Democratic senators and progressive outside groups immediately called on the tax bill to be delayed.

But Jones isn't expected to impact the current timeline for tax reform.

Republicans want to vote on their tax bill next week, and Alabama officials have said they will not certify the Senate race results until Dec. 26. That means Jones might not be seated until January.

Schumer, asked about when he wanted Doug Jones to be seated, said it should happen "as soon as possible," but noted that Alabama law would delay it until late December.

And so it goes. Yet more proof of the textbook politics in America for the last 50 years.

Democrats relentlessly push, press, and bully and never relent — ever! All the while Republics always shrink back from Democrat demands and eagerly hand over their lunch money hoping against all hope that the Democrats will finally really like them this time and be their friends.

Man, what is the definition of insanity? Why are they called the Stupid Party?

Here’s the Deal Chuckles...

We’ll hold off on the budget stuff till Jones is seated as soon as you and your criminal caucus vote to REPEAL every last word of Obamacare.

Just in case you missed it Chuckles, it was Harry Reid and YOU that pushed the middle of the night, end of session vote on Obamacare BEFORE Reid would seat Scott Brown.

Now go molest one of your staff and STFU!

I wish Trump wouldn’t sign it, but it benefits his buddies, so it ain’t happening. First full of retirement next year, I’m so looking forward to paying an additional $800 in federal taxes. Screw them all if this goes through.

If not delayed, you can pretty well count on John McCain to vote against it because the new senator didn’t get a chance to vote on it. I’d be very surprised if that didn’t happen.

Undoubtedly, McCain and the bunch will go along with Chuck You. If so, then Strange should call their bluff and say, I will abstain. McCain and the rest of the usual suspects in their heart of hears want to sabotage this.

Hmmm maybe is correct. Let Jones throw his vote against tax relief and with Pelosi.

Let the Alabama voters see who Jones is and what he’s about because we know damn well nobody voted FOR him or his ideas.

The more Jones goes on record as being a leftist stooge of the San Francisco party people call democrats the better the chance his ass is booted in three years.

“Let’s start taking odds to see how fast Republicans will acquiesce to Schumer and the Democrats”

They already have.
This is just theatre for us little people.
