Alabama votes on Tuesday in a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, now the attorney general. The last polls close at 8 p.m. Eastern. Strong support for Roy S. Moore, the Republican, is expected in rural, mostly white parts of the state and in its northern half. The Democrat, Doug Jones, aims to create a lead in the urban counties that include Birmingham and Montgomery, and across a band of largely black counties.
One critical battleground is a trio of smaller, whiter cities: Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Mr. Moore won a hard race in 2012 by keeping things close there. Mr. Jones hopes to win the cities by a convincing margin.

41% reporting (903 of 2,220 precincts)
“Then why is the NYT saying Jones is going to win?”
Because there are a lot of votes left outstanding in the larger cities ... these tend to vote Rat and the turnout was fairly high in those cities ... I was completely wrong thinking Moore had this by 10% ... don’t give up hope though ...
Lot of votes still out there....Lot of blue votes Go Moore!
Only if you believe the BS Democrats created.
arggg ... so what is the story?
Are the votes wrong ... or the trends wrong?
What was the vote turnout like in Montgomery and Jefferson? How many votes are we talking about there?
There apparently was a MASSIVE black turnout in Birmingham 40 some percent. The RATS & the RINO affiliated groups did an effective job there.
The Mitch McConnell RINOs want to be in the Senate minority, they want the Trump agenda to fail and they want the Swamp to thrive.
If that ends up being the case, the establishment pulled the Mississippi/McDaniel narrative by getting the minorities GOTV with the KKK scare. I pray there is enough votes to overcome that.
CGato
They are stuffing ballot boxes in the ghettos. That is my fear.
You should fear the fact the GOPe nullified the primary vote.
What bothers me is the low number of pricincts counted in Birmingham.
There re 43 precincts of 172 counted.
So far there are about 35,000 votes tallied.
This reveals a potential for some 100-110,000 more votes still out.
Of course it’s going 83.8% for Jones right now.
Like the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Danell Moron (CT governor) won when the Dems found a car with its trunk loaded with Malloy votes...
Same old story, the big cities will be held back until the end, dems will see how many votes they need and find them.
I thought so to!
Trends are going back to Moore.
Now 4.1 Moore - looks like Madison and Jefferson aren’t getting as good turnout at predicted.
The guy rode his horse to the poll. I watched the video...... he is lousy on a horse. But, I hope he wins
He's a vote for the wall.
“Im smelling one party fighting an election tooth and nail and the other party surrendering it.”
Yep.
Dems spent a fortune on turnout- and it was worth it.
