Alabama votes on Tuesday in a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, now the attorney general. The last polls close at 8 p.m. Eastern. Strong support for Roy S. Moore, the Republican, is expected in rural, mostly white parts of the state and in its northern half. The Democrat, Doug Jones, aims to create a lead in the urban counties that include Birmingham and Montgomery, and across a band of largely black counties.
One critical battleground is a trio of smaller, whiter cities: Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Mr. Moore won a hard race in 2012 by keeping things close there. Mr. Jones hopes to win the cities by a convincing margin.

Not impossible, we still have that extra vote from Pence to break any ties that result from the lost seat. I have a feeling he’ll be plenty busy in the next session though.
Wanna bet all of Judge Moore’s accusers will just disappear now. I say this with the greatest amount of anger and cynicism towards her, but Gloria Allred did her job! The Dems will reward her nicely, and keep her from being disbarred. It’s on to the next Republican to smear for 2018.

Hate to lose a solid R seat but there is a bright side. No candidate will have to defend Moore in 2018..we should pick up 6 to 8 Senate seats.

That is fine for next year...but this coming year of the Trump presidency is now completely lost. Tax Reform is it. The Senate can now shut down the government...and will...unless Trump keeps the borders open and gives up on the wall. You’ve seen the last conservative Supreme Court Justice, there will 2 to 3 retire now on this news, knowing for this year The Swamp reigns supreme with Democrats now having an effective majority with the 3 to 4 anti-Trump crossovers. My issue isn’t with the next election, it’s with what happens tomorrow until the next election. Trump will have to cross over and give Democrats what they demand or he will get nothing at all.
Oh the full-court press will be on Trump now, the sharks smell blood in the water.

Secondly, I blame Senstor Shelby from Alabama, who along with Sessions said he wasn’t voting for Moore, and suggested voters write in other candidates, which they did in enough numbers to throw the election to Jones.
I didn’t realize Sessions had joined with traitor Shelby, in saying he wasn’t voting for Moore.
Shame on Shelby. I will do all I can...from TX...to support the conservative who (hopefully) runs against him!!

Moore was outspent more than 10 to 1.
The guy did pretty darned good for the full waged war against him.
Lets face it, he did it without any outside help.
The GOPe hated him. Major names trashed him. McConnell and Ryan joined the Democrats trashing him.
I’ve got no complaints with Moore.
A full court press with all our team on the court, Moore wins by a wide margin.
Our side even pushed for a write-in which very well could have cost Moore the election.
The current count shows him behind by 9,500 votes or so. There were over 22,000 write-ins.
Mobile's at 93% reporting, and their margin so far is for Jones at 57K to 41K.
The big one still out is Birmingham at only 85% reporting, and they've been going jonesie at 122K to 51K as of now.
Alabama: You now have a pro late-term abortion Senator, just like the other Blue States. Hope you are proud. (with apologies to AL FReepers who voted for Moore)
Agreed on the good AL Freepers here. It is amazing how these other so-called conservatives allowed New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Hollyweird, etc, to help decide their representation in Congress. Might as well elected Al Franken because their candidate is on par with him. He even comes with sexual allegations, LOL.
