Alabama votes on Tuesday in a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, now the attorney general. The last polls close at 8 p.m. Eastern. Strong support for Roy S. Moore, the Republican, is expected in rural, mostly white parts of the state and in its northern half. The Democrat, Doug Jones, aims to create a lead in the urban counties that include Birmingham and Montgomery, and across a band of largely black counties.
One critical battleground is a trio of smaller, whiter cities: Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Mr. Moore won a hard race in 2012 by keeping things close there. Mr. Jones hopes to win the cities by a convincing margin.

My thought exactly. I’m sure McConnell, Paul Ryan and other swamp leaders are reveling tonight. And I’m 50% sure that McCain and one other RINO will switch to the ‘RATS come January to give the Senate to the ‘RATS.

And that’s it..Jones won..in ALABAMA..a RED STATE has gone blue..thanks GOP Establishment pricks..will probably lose in the Senate in 2018 too

Jones now +10k with 89% in.
No place really for Moore to get votes at this point.
If the write-ins push this thing over the edge for Jones, Shelby’s going to look like a total ass.
Clearly that’s the last time anyone should pay attention to their race calls.
As in other elections I’ve observed where the Republican leadership abandons a candidate for whatever reason, it’s amazing how well some of these folks do with no funds and no big names behind them.
Moore did get Trump and a number of other folks, but he was outspent 14/1 by some reports.
Contrast that with his showing here, and he did a very respectful job.
He was smeared. I am still not anywhere near convinced the charges were valid. The accusers had terrible reputations. It doesn’t matter, the media and even the GOPe went for it in total.
I worry about next year. I don’t see McConnell and Ryan doing anything to support Trump and our cause.
This least 10 months may have been our high water mark.
They may have stalled long enough so that everything we wanted done can be blocked.
We couldn’t do a damned things with a 52/48 margin, and now it’s 51/49.
