I remember that show and Matthews wasn’t bad.
I remember. I listened to the show.
IIRC, that’s when “Hardball” was just beginning and it was supposed that at last we would have a media outlet that would ask the tough questions and demand answers from (mostly Dem) politicians.
Hey, there was a time where a lot of people here on FR LOVED Chrissie Fit for his attacks on BJ Clinton.
He wasn't getting tingles down his legs in those days.
It was the mid/late 90s. About 3-5 times. During the Clinton years, before Bush.
I remember, could not believe my ears—and he was pretty good, not that I want to admit it. One of the best was Jason Lewis, now a member of congress. He could have his own show, he is that good. Weak ones include the soporific Mark Davis, the never trumper from red state— Eric Erickson, and a few others I don’t care about.
Like some others have said the show wasn't bad and he was a Tim Russert wannabe. Laura Ingraham was also on in the afternoons and MSNBC was my channel back then between college classes.
Matthews was at one time reasonable, not an insane progressive leftard...
I watched his show regularly...
He used to have great guest’s when he wasnt spitting on them...
I think Matthews was a different man when his father was still alive.
I figure....Matthews is like a lot of people in the MSM...they say what they think keeps the money rolling in.
No sub-host was EVER as bad as Helen Morphonias.
Not only was she a liberal, she was stupid and rude.
At one time, Chris Matthews was somewhat of a moderate.
Chris Matthews admitted that he voted for George Bush in 2000. Then MSNBC starting to pay him big paychecks and he turned left.........at least on his show.
I remember Chrissie’s guest-hosting show. I called it “Excrement In Broadcasting”.
I remember Matthews guest hosting. Steyn is the only one I’ll listen to these days.
He absolutely despised Bill Clinton. We was never not a liberal, just a liberal-hating Clinton.
In the late 90s, Chris Matthews was one of the most objective journalists around.
In the mid-90s, Mathews was kind of like Pat Caddell, an old fashioned Democrat who loved America and the rule of law. He gave up that shtick around 2003 and became full-fledged leftist loon. Probably for the money.
I remember listening to Matthews hosting Limbaugh’s show.
The way it looks to me, Matthews was the same guy back then. Only difference was the way he presented himself. His agenda has always been to attempt to change the way people think.
I loved it when he had Bob B-1 Dornan on as a guest host. I got through and talked to him once.
