I remember Matthews back then. He was more of an angry populist trying to speak to the working-class "joe lunchbox" demographic.

He wasn't getting tingles down his legs in those days.

I remember Matthews subbing for Rush, too.

He made it clear that he was *not* a conservative.

Just that we are all Americans, and that is OK.

He talked a bit about his love of hunting and his support of the second amendment IIRC.

I ended up enjoying him filling in, I think he did a good job at making it an interesting show.

I feel sorry for Matthews now.

Something pathological has happened to his brain. Drugs? Alcohol? Liberalism?

But it is NOT good.
