Chris Matthews, EIB Guest Host?
Mar 14, 2008
RUSH: This is Dean in Beulah, Iowa. Am I pronouncing that right?
CALLER: Yes, you are.
RUSH: Thank you, sir. Welcome to the program.
CALLER: Thank you. Mega dittos, Rush. Hey, I was just wondering, Ive been a fan of the show for a long time, and has Chris Matthews ever guest hosted your show?
RUSH: Yes, he has.
CALLER: And why did you do that.
RUSH: Well, you know, there was a time that Help me out on this, Snerdley. It was the mid-nineties, right?
CALLER: Yeah, at least that long ago. Its been a long time, way before he ever came out as being more liberal. You know, for a time there he was almost conservative.
RUSH: Well, in part. But when we put him on as a guest host we knew that he wasnt full-fledged conservative, but we did it just as a change of pace.
CALLER: Okay.
RUSH: But back then, he and I had a good relationship. I was going on his show, and he was calling in to my show, and we had a good relationship back then, but I stopped being invited to go on his show. Maybe its I stopped accepting invitations. I dont know which. But clearly now, that network now is the house organ for the Democrat National Committee.
CALLER: Yeah. I think I remember that show he was on, and it was pretty good, if I remember right, but (laughs).
RUSH: I didnt hear it. I never listen when Im not here, obviously. If I could listen, I would be here to do the show. So I didnt hear it. Im trying to remember. My memory is, we had some people complain.

In the late 90s, Chris Matthews was one of the most objective journalists around.
I can’t believe Fox hasn’t hired Steyn for a Saturday night program. Would much prefer him to Greg Gutfeld for a Saturday night of Fun, perspective and some really great tunes.
In the mid-90s, Mathews was kind of like Pat Caddell, an old fashioned Democrat who loved America and the rule of law. He gave up that shtick around 2003 and became full-fledged leftist loon. Probably for the money.
I remember listening to Matthews hosting Limbaugh’s show.
The way it looks to me, Matthews was the same guy back then. Only difference was the way he presented himself. His agenda has always been to attempt to change the way people think.
I would guess Matthews had handlers and still does. And that his agenda was the same then as it is now.
I loved it when he had Bob B-1 Dornan on as a guest host. I got through and talked to him once.
Please elaborate.... thanks.
He would mention his father (and brother) now and then with love in his voice.
I think the Clintons came to town, his father died, and his wife ran for office, and he lost his grounding. Now, he even hates God.
I heard the Matthews guest appearance too. He was pretty good. Those were the days when many TV personalities were experimenting with talk radio. Most discovered that it is not the same as scripted TV with incidental chatter.
I also watched Chris Matthews every Sunday that I could. Then he attacked Michelle Malkin. He showed himself to be a lefty that beats up girls. Can’t believe it was that long. It was incident to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth advocacy in John Kerry’s presidential challenge.
Both Mark Steyn and Dr. Williams are awesome as guest hosts. Dr. Sowell would occasionally call in to Williams as well. Nothing lasts forever but I hope they are around for years to come. Steyn needs his won show years ago.
