My exact thoughts too.
Glad he’s ok.
Also glad he killed one of the scumbags.
As the saying goes, don’t pick a fight with an old man, he’ll just shoot you.
if the perp was close enough to be a direct threat, and it appears he was, then good for Grandpa!
“Lutz said the dead intruder appeared to be 35 to 45 years old, was white, and weighed close to 300 pounds.”
Killed a white whale!
If I were to tuck a pistol under my pillow, I would never be able to locate it, the way I toss and turn all night.
In a holster that is tacked to the back of the headboard.
Instant Justice!
Sounds like heroin addicts looking for an easy score didn’t get what they bargained for.

I got this secondhand from an old friend but I am sure it is correct.
Another old friend was asleep in his house with all the lights out. He awoke and could just barely make out shadowy forms in the room. He lives alone and was recovering from cancer.
He grabbed a .357 magnum and fired six shots basically wildly. It was 3 Black men. It turned out he hit one and he was caught later at a hospital. The other two were identified by that one so they were all caught.
The old friend who recounted the story said he and his Brother both are now shopping for a pistol to keep in their bedrooms. Their wives are OK with it.
Just down the road from me - friend from work lives there, surprised he didn’t know about it.
I wonder what races those two robers are
Two years ago I was awakened at 0430 to the sight and sound of two thugs trying to break in my motel room through the balcony glass slider. I grabbed my Glock 23, which was right next to the bed, and went to the slider. I pulled the curtain aside with one hand and let the barrel of my Glock rest against the glass. As soon as the thugs heard the barrel tap the glass and saw it pointed right at them they bolted so fast it was unbelievable. When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.
I love reading stories like this although I feel bad for the folks forced to take a life.
There should be a ministry devoted to helping these people cope.
This old man is never 20 ft from my Barrette
What a happy story.
