On Friday, Hollywood actress Alyssa Milano urged her Twitter followers to watch Republicans debate the tax overhaul bill hours before its scheduled vote.
watching ..Senator Tim Scott $100 a month is real money to struggling families ? Is he [bleeping] kidding ? HOW MUCH does $100 buy in this day ? Costs me $50 to fill my [bleeping] gas tank FFS, replied Twitter user Cherl Criss.
Tim Scott had the best ever response to Peltier:
You mean besides growing up in a poor single parent household where we had to use the oven to heat the house? Or when we couldnt afford Christmas presents? Or when I owned 4 shirts total?
Timothy Eugene Scott was growing up poor and black in Charleston, S.C., the son of a nurses aide who worked 16-hour shifts, when Strom Thurmond, who ran for president as the standard-bearer for segregationists, was at the peak of his powers in the Senate, reported the Washington Post.
Scott amazing back story:
As you have probably heard by now, the junior senator was once an aimless teen who was failing four classes, and he was on the verge of flunking out of high school. He worked a part-time job at a movie theater, and every day he ordered fries and a water from a nearby Chick-fil-A. The owner of the restaurant, John Moniz, eventually took the 13-year-old Scott under his wing and educated him in the teachings of the Republican Party and self-help evangelicals.
Under Monizs watchful gaze and free sandwiches Scotts worldview changed and his prospects improved. Eventually, Scott entered college, graduated, and became a successful insurance salesman before embarking on a career in politics. although Moniz tragically passed away when Scott was only 17, even today the senator credits his success to his one-time mentor.
Wait, aren’t we supposed to hate Sen. Scott because he didn’t endorse Donald Trump off the bat?
Check your Loyalties, boy, check your Loyalties!
Actually help-each-other evangelicals.
What an amazing story. Thank you for posting this.
Who’s Peltier?
Theres a HUGE difference between having $100 and not having it. A Humungous. Difference. As any poor person knows Or anyone who has been poor The rich piggy D autocrats need to stfu about poor and working and middle class people.
Yes, you are correct. Poverty is a tough teacher on how to be frugal and efficient. $100 can go a very long way if the knowledge is there. Some of the richest Americans learned how to manage money through an experience of poverty.
Alyssa Milano is just another Hollywood whack-job beauty.
bkmk
I am constantly amazed at how much we waste in America.
Yet, in a strange way, it makes it easier to get ahead if you are motivated.
A person with little can dress well in clothes from the Salvation Army. Shop carefully and stock up on great deals from grocery stores, or better, bargain grocery stores.
A person who is looking ahead can get fantastic deals in distressed property that most overlook because of cosmetic flaws.
$50.00 to fill the tank means she is either driving a truck or a YUGE SUV.
I can fill my car(Regular) and my Harley (Premium) and still not hit $50.00.
$50 to fill her tank?
She should count her blessings that she has a gas tank to fill.
She doesn’t have a clue what really being in want is.
Hollywood is no slouch place to live.
I once got a $400 leather bomber jacket for $37.50 by careful shopping of clearance sales combined with coupons. :-)
You’re right on with that one.
No such thing as a self-help Evangelical. We all recognize our dependence on our Creator.
So, two tanks of gas?
Every dime is worth something. $100 can pay for the heat or groceries.
And with that, His desire to help other people, both those who are believers and those who aren’t (at least yet).
It’s kind of the same way with doctrines about the supremacy of Christ that don’t easily acknowledge how this is found expressed paradoxically in deep humility. Did snot come out of your nose today? God blessed you so that it would. Otherwise your lungs would fill with dirt. Etc.
And some of the poorest or most failed, most screwed up, most drugged up Americans were given money instead of being told to go out and get a job and earn it. Rich people fuKK up their kids’s lives horribly by giving the kids money.
Horribly.
16 gallon tank X $3.25 per gallon will kill a $50
