Sources: NFL agrees to commit nearly $100M over seven years to social justice causes

The NFL and a group of players reached an agreement in principle late Wednesday night to partner on a plan to address social justice issues considered important to African-American communities, ESPN has learned.

The unprecedented agreement calls for the league to contribute nearly $100 million over seven years to projects dealing with criminal justice reform, law enforcement/community relations and education.

During a conference call Wednesday night, Malcolm Jenkins and Anquan Boldin, who lead roughly 40 players who have negotiated with the league office about demonstrations during the national anthem, guided the group through the highlights of the package, which represents the NFL's largest contribution to a social issue, surpassing that of Salute to Service or Breast Cancer Awareness/Crucial Catch.

The partnership came a day after some players broke away from the Players Coalition because of their dissatisfaction with how Jenkins and Boldin have handled negotiations. Commissioner Roger Goodell, believing that an agreement was at hand, was furious when ESPN reported that players were breaking off, according to one source. But during an afternoon call, Jenkins asked that the commissioner and the owners continue to stand with the players and allow them to do important work in the community.

The agreement does not include language calling for players to end protests during the national anthem in exchange for funds; there's no implicit quid pro quo. But the NFL hopes this effort will effectively end the peaceful yet controversial movement that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started in 2016, when he refused to stand for the anthem.

If the AG would have come out very publically (National Press/Media Statement), presented the actual numbers - **Police killed, civilians killed, number of people assaulted, number injured, property damage costs, AND then officially identified BLM, ANTIFA, BP, NBP, etc... as DOMESTIC TERRORIST ORGAIZATIONS, then it would have been illegal to donate money to them!

Now, it will become nearly impossible to stop these domestic terrorist organizations from receiving money, and becoming more “main stream” than they have already become!

*Jeff Sessions, WHAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY DOING?!?!

I tend to agree.

Someone else mentioned it, and I am also looking forward to see how season tickets sell next year.

I think the NFL has jumped the shark.

ESPN is going down the crapper, and I think the NFL is in for a rude awakening when it can’t convert it’s television rights into the money it used to.

If season tickets take a massive hit, these guys are going to stand to lose their franchises.

They based their business model on growth. Everyone does. Taking a hit of 10-30%, is a massive move in the wrong direction.

A number of things related to the NFL will take a hit at that point.

Will they be using some of that money to build a battered women’s shelter for the wives and girlfriends of NFL players?

There was a Malibu Grand Prix cart track right next to it, when MGP bit it they took it over for a parking lot. There was a bunch of remedial excavation there, they must have put some seriously foil thickness USTs in those places because lots of them had some good masses under them. I abandoned the monitoring wells later, they were a pain to find in a gravel lot, several were filled with beer bottles too :-)

They are fools, out of step with the times. SJWs are Swamp Peasants. America wants the Swamp paved over. The NFL is so 2006. The times have changed. Happy Dinosaur 🦕 NFL.

BART, (Bay Area Rapid Transit) has decided they will no longer release video of crime on the system because they say releasing the video would cause people to ‘fear minorities’.
When did California become the ‘stupid state’?

Awesome- not only are they losing revenue because of the idiotic social justice causes already- now they are goign to pour a 100 million into increasing social justice agendas-

whoever their financial adviser is, he should be fired IMMEDIATELY for misinforming them about the financial advantage of pushing social agendas-

They have been trying to kill off football in high schools, since the 80’s. You are right that liberals are enemies of football.

Stranger even, is that they are now running the NFL, as owners.

It’s not. It’s going to drive more away. The purpose is to pretend they’re trying to bring the fans by while they openly donate to BLM.
