Our Powerful God
November 28, 2017
[He] who creates the wind, . . . the Lord God Almighty is his name.
Amos 4:13
One day by the seaside, I delighted in watching some kite surfers as they bounced along the water, moved by the force of the wind. When one came to shore, I asked him if the experience was as difficult as it looked. No, he said, Its actually easier than regular surfing because you harness the power of the wind.
Afterward as I walked by the sea, thinking about the winds ability not only to propel the surfers but also to whip my hair into my face, I paused to wonder at our God the Creator. As we see in the Old Testament book of Amos, He who forms the mountains and creates the wind can turn dawn to darkness (v. 13).
Through this prophet, the Lord reminded His people of His power as He called them back to Himself. Because they had not obeyed Him, He said He would reveal Himself to them (v. 13). Although we see His judgment here, we know from elsewhere in the Bible of His sacrificial love in sending His Son to save us (see John 3:16).
The power of the wind on this breezy day in the South of England reminded me of the sheer immensity of the Lord. If you feel the wind today, why not stop and ponder our all-powerful God?
Father, thank You for Your power and love. Help us to daily rely on You.
God through His love created the world. Praise Him!
The Bible uses many metaphors to describe God and His work in our lives: For example, God is a shepherd (Ps. 23:1; Isa. 40:11), a rock (Gen. 49:24), a consuming fire (Deut. 4:24), and a spring of living water (Jer. 2:13). But at the dawn of creation, God was likened to a powerful wind. Genesis 1:2 says the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. The Hebrew word rendered Spirit in this verse means wind. We cant see the wind, but we can feel the coolness of a gentle breeze and witness the raw power of a violent tornado uprooting trees and destroying everything in its path. The wind pictures for us Gods invisible presence, His sovereign will, His awesome power, and His mysterious ways. Jesus spoke of this same power of the Spirit of God at work in transforming our lives: The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit (John 3:8).
As you reflect on our powerful God, how does your heart respond?

Hey, there! Hope you had a good day today! Was it warm enough for sweet Church to go out for a stroll?
It was too warm here. Rinse. Repeat. LOL!

Howdy there, LUV!
It was not too bad outside today but still not warm enough to take Churchill out for a walk. He still has a stuffy nose and I don’t want to make matters worse. At least he’s eating well so he can smell the food well enough.
Took Lorien and Willow to the vet and I’m bummed. They were so scared. At least they’re small enough to be put in a cage together and have plenty of room. That’s better than being in separate cages, which would leave them even more scared.
They’re going to be really mad at me for a while after I bring them home. LOL
How did your day go? It sounded like a busy one was in store for y’all.

Oh, my! Those little gals are going to tell their sisters about the horror they went through, and the other two won’t want to have any part of it. LOL! Poor girlies...I don’t blame them one bit for being scared!
My day was good. AND busy. Up early to get Dulcie ready for the day before hubby left for the doc appt. The bath person came, a bit of rest for her, then the therapist, then laundry [mine and hers], while she crashed and burned after all that traffic. Then her other son and DIL came over to visit. Then dinner. Arrange her for the night and just hope she sleeps well.

Good evening Ms Marlowe!
I miss you, and hope you are doing well!
I always marvel at Gods power.
When the Texans came up, I took them to Lands End
so they could shop, but also to watch the waves crashing against the rocks.
Remember when Charlton Heston played Moses and said
“Behold his mighty hand” as he parted the sea?
Makes me think of that!
I hope you are able to make it up here sometime!

Whew! You should have no problem going to bed early tonight after all that hubbub. LOL! And barring any episodes with her hose, Dulcie should sleep like a log. I hope she enjoyed the visit from her other son and DIL.
Yeah, the girlies are going to tell the others how terrible and mean the EVIL DOCTOR was. And from here on out, they’ll run at the sight of a carrier.
A little while ago, Hubby commented on what I’d already noticed - - it’s quiet in here tonight. Kinda obvious who the instigators of mayhem are since they aren’t here to stir the rest of the “herd” up. hee!

Howdy, MS.B.
How are things going these days?
How’s that handsome young feller doing? Has he made his trip to the vet yet? Two of Pixie’s girlies are at the vet clinic tonight, waiting for their big girl operations first thing in the morning.

Ah-ha! So now we know that my favorite is one of the wild bunch! LOL! Do the other two miss their sisters?
Yes, I think we’ll all sleep well tonight. This is one night that I wish I had that monitor so I could be confident of hearing her. it’s on it’s way, though. The one that Kathy suggested!
