New York Times columnist Charles Blow took to Twitter Friday afternoon with a message of unity, no doubt inspired by Divine Providence after rejoicing in the Thanksgiving holiday.
Just kidding. The author of Fire Shut Up in My Bones told his followers point blank that Trump fans need not apply for friendship.
If u support Trump, we don't have anything to talk abt & we can't be friends. This isn't abt parties or ideology; This is abt right & wrong Charles M. Blow (@CharlesMBlow) November 24, 2017
He followed up his Tweet saying that Trumps lying was the cornerstone of his rejection of his political adversaries.
Lying is a foundational sin; It makes all other sins possible. Trump lies ALL THE TIME. That for me is a deal-breaker out of the gate! Charles M. Blow (@CharlesMBlow) November 24, 2017
Blow also offered a pretty lame life mantra.
This is my mantra: Equal rights for everyone, global warming is real, equal pay, #BLM, #LovesIsLove, #believewomen. And I'm anti-Trump! Charles M. Blow (@CharlesMBlow) November 24, 2017
This type of anti-Trump commentary is not that surprising for the opinion writer. In an article titled "Trump Isnt Hitler. But the Lying...", Blow wrote:
"That is the very real threat we are facing. Trump isnt necessarily a direct threat to your life unless of course you are being kept alive by health care that he keeps threatening, or if youre in Puerto Rico reeling in the wake of two hurricanes but he is very much a threat to your quality of life."
However, his thinking is delusional for multiple reasons. In his mind, mere support for the president of the United States is an affront to him as a person. Therefore, rather than find commonality with his political opponent on a variety of other issues, the easiest route for him is to cut them out of his life completely. He forgoes the possibility of converting somebody who disagrees with him because it's easier to surround himself with likeminded people.
Blow is advocating the polar opposite of one our founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson wrote, "I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend."
What a sad life one leads when they allow political factions to seep into personal friendships.
Oh Charles, boy o boy. He is always like this.
Oh blow it out your rear Blow. I’m particular who I’m friends with and you ain’t never been on my list!
ROFL
I’ve had to limit my time around a good friend because his wife is a drooling moron when it comes to politics.
He daily viewing includes the Today show, Ellen, The View, Kardashians, and NBC Nightly News, interspersed with the Lifetime Channel. She said her most favorite show is 60 Minutes,
Did I mention that she’s a moron?
We can only imagine how he got through school with a name like Blow! Obviously he must have blown his brains out doing all that hard work in the boys room
One of our children won’t speak to us since the election. It does hurt, but not as much as watching the country sink into poverty and oppression would have. At least our grandchildren may have a chance at happiness.
I voted pro-life and don’t regret it but “How sharper than a serpent’s tooth it is. To have a thankless child.Away, away! Let it be a wicked child who mocks the mother who cares for it. Make my daughter feelmake her feel how an ungrateful child hurts worse than a snakebite.”
Chuckie, Chuckie, Chuckie.......
I make it a point to NEVER befriend people who lie, cheat and justify bad behavior. I also do not make friends with communists or crazies.
You fill all of those requirements. And you filled them all waaaaaay BEFORE Trump ever came on the scene.
So thank you for not even trying to be friends. I would just hurt your feelings anyhow.
____
Blow may be needing some of what he called "magic underwear".
Amen.
Oh NO! I’m heartsick about this. He sounds like such a likeable guy; I can’t believe we cannot be friends. Boo hoo.
That would be a blessing compared to
what Peter Fonda must have gone through
every time he had to give his last name
first, first name last.
I dumped my best friend when she outed herself as a HUGE liberal in 2016. She hid it quite well for over 30 years. Since Oblowme, she’d been getting more and more outspoken, saying things like, “the white man deserves what’s coming to him” etc......And she’s white!!!
2016 was the last straw. Have not spoken to her in well over a year and have no desire to speak with her.
It feels really good!!
Who wants to be friends with you? You smell bad.
We've been acutely aware that he's our enemy, and we've been aware of that since well before Donald Trump announced his candidacy. Thanks Kaslin.
This reminds me of a Dutch woman I met a few months ago. She was here on OUR soil on vacation and started bashing President Trump, calling him a liar. I asked her to name a lie. "There's so many, it's hard to pick!" I replied, "If there are so many, it should be easy to just name one." She stuttered and stammered, and could not provide one solitary example of a lie, exclaiming that she knows he's a liar because the media says it "all the time."
I told her that she should listen to President Trump with her own ears instead of listening to someone tell her what he said. She looked stunned. I asked her if she were to watch a Trump speech for herself, and then watch the media coverage, which version of his speech would she believe. "The media of course!" This is the kind of frightening ignorance we are up against. I was just glad this brainwashed moron was only here on vacation.
I am not mentally impaired; therefore, I don’t care to be “friends” with any LIB moonbat asshat nitwit like this fool.
“New York Times Columnist: If You Support Trump, We Can’t Be Friends”
