Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) on Sunday urged Republicans not to succumb to political tribalism in backing embattled Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore (R).
After what we know, for Republicans to support Roy Moore over Doug Jones is political tribalism at its worst," Flake tweeted.
Moore is under pressure from numerous Republican lawmakers to step down in the race. He faces allegations of sexual misconduct from multiple women, including claims that he made advances on teenage girls decades ago when he was in his 30s.
Moore has been defiant, refusing to drop out of the race and calling the allegations an effort by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to steal the election from Alabama voters.
Last week, President Trump appeared to back Moore and downplayed the allegations facing the candidate. "He denies it. He totally denies it," Trump said, adding that "we don't need a liberal person in there."
Trump continued his attacks on Democrat Doug Jones on Sunday, calling him weak on crime and suggesting he would be a "puppet" for Democratic leadership.
Flake, who has announced he will not seek reelection in 2018, has been an outspoken critic of Trump and of Moore.
Flake has said he would vote for Jones over Moore, calling the presidents decision to support Moore a big mistake.

It'll be a joyous day when this leftist Flake and McCain who he's joined at the hip with are out of the Senate.
Elect ROY MOORE!

Unbelievable, huh?
This guy was a Senator from my home state.
To think he follows guys like Barry Goldwater and Paul Fannin is hard to believe.
Almost as hard to believe as McCain being held to the same test.

THe problem with his argument is in the first sentence, “From what we know.” What do we actually KNOW at this point? Would this flake want due process for himself?

I wish Republicans would spend half the time criticizing Democrats as they do other Republicans. Just Half. Is that too much to ask? (And remember that, GOP, next time you put your hand out for contributions).

Moore is under pressure from numerous Republican lawmakers to step down in the race.
How many from Alabama? What kind of pressure should a non-Alabaman be able to place on candidates in Alabama?

Not even when they are about to go down. Dems will smuggle stuff from an evidence locker for each other in their pants if they have to.

Flake, like McCain ... speaks in a way that makes you think he's either accepting payment and/or he's owned due to something someone has on him.
There is a certain beta male acting to their tone that doesn't sound like simply dumb republicans coming up with dumb ideas and being outspoken about them.
They sound more like planted PR, under a certain duress. I'm not saying their sincere politics is any good, but that ... they sound like they are reciting someone else's lines, not all that enthusiastically, in an unholy deal.

Since when does TheHill.com give a damn about what a Republican thinks? Oh. Right. When he or she attacks another Republican.
Useful idiot, thy name is Jeff Flake.
