Can the descent of American political culture into ugly tribalism be halted? Alabama voters will give their answer when they decide whether to send Roy Moore to the U.S. Senate.
Moore, 70, has built a long, disgraceful career out of smarmy religiosity spiked with tribal grievance. Having posed for years as the most pious of Christians, he now stands accused by nine women of un-Christian behavior: They claim convincingly that Moore, when he was in his 30s, aggressively pursued romantic or sexual relationships, including with teens barely half his age.
Successful demagogues can use tribal enmities to blind their followers to such moral and logical contradictions.
Moore uses his angry Christianity as a tool of self-aggrandizement. He uses the trust and passion of the Alabamians he defrauds to sully the reputations of women who bravely testify to his allegedly vile and creepy behavior.
Alabama’s three major newspapers ran rare front-page editorials Sunday imploring voters not to send this unworthy man to Washington. It is a sad sign of the times that I am not sure whether that hurt Moore’s prospects or helped them. The “mainstream media” is an enemy whose disapproval Moore cultivates to make his supporters love him more.
Moore is not invincible. He can be defeated — but only if Alabamians decide that honor, integrity and morality are more important than tribe.

It's not the "tribe" and it's not morality. It's getting Trump's MAGA agenda passed. Can President Trump count on Jones? I didn't think so. He'll be able to count on Roy Moore.

Conservative supreme court is enough for me to overlook his failings
Funny, I don’t seem to recall this guy or any of his colleagues at this “newspaper” saying the same thing about Ted Kennedy and his liberal followers, Bill Clinton and his feminist followers, or Franken and his left-wing kook followers. All of them did far worse than Judge Moore, and all of it was of recent vintage as opposed to 40 year old allegations.
...and so do ours! :-P

Liberals have no problem overlooking personal transgressions if their agenda is getting passed and yet they're aghast that voters in Alabama are prepared to do the same (and that's if they even believe Moore's accusers in the first place).

The sexual misconduct narrative is failing so I’m sure in the last week before the election the race card will be pulled out and some well paid “actors” posing as Alabama citizens will claim the judge used the N word repeatedly. Don’t laugh. You know these desperate people will do anything to derail Moore’s senate bid.

One must remember that the Democrat Party's motto is,
I don’t give a damn about the Republican brand.
My top priority is protecting innocent little preborn babies from being violently murdered between conception and birth.
That requires Senators who will confirm Right to Life Justices to the Supreme Court.
I hope so. We need people that will stand up to the seductiveness of socialism and beat it back. Moore and Trump are just such men. The left has no weapon against them because the refuse to play the left’s game.
