Rand Pauls wife, Dr. Kelley Paul, eviscerated the media and the neighbor who attacked her husband in an opinion piece for CNN.
Senator Paul, a Republican from Kentucky, was the victim of a vicious attack on November 3rd. His neighbor reportedly tackled him from behind and left him with six broken ribs, three displaced ribs, a pleural effusion, and pneumonia.
Kelley writes in CNN that since the attack, her husband has not taken a single breath without pain.
As his wife, I have been distraught over seeing him suffer like this, she says. There have been several nights where I had my hand on my phone ready to call 911 when his breathing became so labored it was terrifying.
Sen. Pauls neighbor, Rene Albert Boucher, has plead not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge and his attorney has continued to argue that the attack was the result of a long-running disagreement over yard maintenance.
Kelley Paul slammed speculation by the media that the attack was over a trivial neighborly dispute involving things like lawn trimmings or gardening. One article in The New Yorker suggested the attack could be blamed on a rank smell coming from some gourds in Sen. Pauls yard.
It is incredibly hurtful that some news outlets have victimized Rand a second time as he struggles to recover, delighting in hateful headlines like Not A Perfect Neighbor, and concocting theories about an ongoing dispute, based on nothing more than speculation from an attention-seeking person with no knowledge of anything to do with us, Kelley asserts.

I don’t think that Mrs. Paul is a doctor.
“It was a deliberate, blindside attack. The impact left Rand with six broken ribs, three displaced, pleural effusion and now pneumonia.”
How do these severe injuries results in just a misdemenor assault charge? Its outrageous.
I’m sure the hate-Paul wing of FR is yukking it up though.
Wow. No. Political battle is one thing. Physical harm is totally another. Hate? No. Strong disagreement? Yes. Again, wow.
Yes, this is why QB's wear rib protectors.
And yet, they call us the 'violent ones' !!
Liberals want to take away your guns because they want to do things to you that they can't do if you are armed.
Now it seems you need a rib protector if you’re a Republican Senator who wishes to cut his grass.
Seriously? I tripped over my Dog and hit the floor like a sack of potatoes.
I ended up with two bruised Ribs and had a hairline Fracture in another. I also broke a Finger for good measure.
Senator Paul is not a big guy by a longshot, he is 5’8” and probably weighs 150 while I am 6’3” and weigh 245.
He was blindsided, just like the Victims of the Feral Animal Knockout Game. Some of those Victims die from their injuries.
I hope Senator Paul Sues that Moron into Bankruptcy.
Agree 100%. An admirable principled person.
Why is his attacker not doing time. If he had attacked someone who’s not a conservative politician, he wouldn’t be getting off so easy. The attack was brutal. I’ve had one broken rib and it was beyond miserable.
Your sensible, well thought out, adult statement will cause Mariners head to explode should he read it ! LOL !! Oh, and I agree with you.
Snoot ;o)
I don’t think we have seen the final outcome of that attack on Rand Paul. There will be a very large civil suit & possibly criminal charges.
The neighbor attacked the wrong Kentucky Senator. The moron should have attacked Mitch...
But first there will be jail for assault on a US Senator.
