Washington (CNN) — A federal grand jury in Washington, DC, on Friday approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources briefed on the matter. The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge.
Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said.
It is unclear what the charges are. A spokesman for the special counsel's office declined to comment.
Mueller was appointed in May to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Under the regulations governing special counsel investigations, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who has oversight over the Russia investigation, would have been made aware of any charges before they were taken before the grand jury for approval, according to people familiar with the matter.
On Friday, top lawyers who are helping to lead the Mueller probe, including veteran prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, were seen entering the court room at the DC federal court where the grand jury meets to hear testimony in the Russia investigation.
Reporters present saw a flurry of activity at the grand jury room, but officials made no announcements.

Mueller is authorized to investigate "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation," according to Rosenstein's order.
The special counsel's investigation has focused on potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, as well as obstruction of justice by the President, who might have tried to impede the investigation.
CNN reported that investigators are scrutinizing Trump and his associates' financial ties to Russia. Mueller's team has also examined foreign lobbying conducted by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and others. His team has issued subpoenas for documents and testimony to a handful of figures...

Uranium samples can be analyzed to identify their origin. Russia would not want their fingerprints on Iranian nukes - especially not after they had been used.

Lots of people probably decided to take a spur-of-the-moment mini-vacation to somewhere first thing this morning. If I thought I could be the target, and no one told me to "stay put", I would say to the wife... "Hey, just for the heck of it lets jet off to Grand Cayman for a long weekend getaway".
If its anyone (50% chance CNN just made this up) it could be some low-level person no one's ever heard of. They probably interviewed (under oath) hundreds of people, and its super-easy to fall into the perjury/obstruction trap (think Scooter Libby).
For maximum effect, the deep state need only arrest someone, anyone in any way connected to the Trump campaign. It could be an accountant's third assistant or anyone. Once they do, the MSM can run wall to wall "blockbuster" stories: "ARREST MADE IN TRUMP-RUSSIA PROBE, TRUMP PEOPLE GOING TO JAIL IN BIGGEST SCANDAL EVER!!!!!!".
Has anyone considered the possibility that Mueller indicted the FBI Informant? After lenghty discussions he/she is ready to give up information. Mueller has to know who it is. They will charge him with something due to his FBI status and try to discredit him/her!
Don’t have an ipad. I was reading and checking in on FOX and CNN to see if anything was happening after the initial assault before I turned TV off - Oh! and watching some of the ballgame! Multitasker, you know! Wish I could sleep as well. Never could understand why elderly people said they couldn’t sleep...Now I know. I don’t know the WHY but I certainly understand the problem...

According to insider Twitter accounts, indictments will come down on Paul Manafort, Tony Podesta and John Podesta in a last ditch effort for Mueller to try and save his own a$$.

This is an old article, but it makes sense, a lot of basic common sense. But now that indictments are close, rereading this interview gave me a sense that Trump may have just pulled the biggest hush-hush investigation in history.
We may all find ourselves eating our words about Mueller. I am not holding my breath on doing it though.

I wonder if some of these guys, like Rosenstein and Mueller, may be careerist bureaucracy climbers at heart, more driven by personal ambition than political ideology. Let’s call it “Professional”. As such they would curry favor with whoever is the boss, and try to lay low and cover their butts when the boss is misbehaving.
To survive, they may have had to bite their lip and not stick their necks out when Clinton was up to no good, and those deemed not politically reliable were being purged. But nonetheless, they had a good idea of what was going on.
And what do all three cases you just cited have in common? If they have the name and are sitting on it, then what does that tell you?

I’m assuming he knew about the sale of the uranium.. and he did not do that out of anything but greed for himself. He would not have let hillary and bill get that much money without being in on the take also. He bought that house and perhaps that money bought it. He was not super wealthy until he became President and that salary is not enough to be a millionaire.
He took the time to spy on Trump.. he took the time to do whatever he needed to do to control what his pickadillies were... he took the time to speak at every place there was a black shot by the police... he picked and chose who and what was important to him for his selfish and destructive reasons. He took the time to see that valerie or someone set the IRS on conservatives.. he used every bit of government power to control the people he did not like.
He was an isis/muslim sympathizer and hated our military and our country.. he had no business being President but enough ignorant people who believed his lies, voted for him... and the color of his skin saved him from any criticism.. the press loved him and that pegs those idiots as to who they are.
