Author Christina Baker Kline has come forward saying she was groped by former President George H.W. Bush in 2014 during a Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy fundraiser during a photo opportunity.
"'You wanna know my favorite book?' he whispered. I had to lean close to hear him," Kline wrote in an op-ed for Slate.
"President Bush put his arm around me, low on my back. His comic timing was impeccable. 'David Cop-a-feel,' he said, and squeezed my butt, hard, just as the photographer snapped the photo. Instinctively, I swiped his hand away," Kline wrote.
Kline is the third woman to accuse Bush of sexually assaulting her.
Actress Heather Lind initially came forward Tuesday claiming Bush sexually assaulted her and described the interaction four years ago in a now-deleted Instagram post. The incident happened during a photo opportunity to promote a TV show.
Late Wednesday, a second woman, New York actress Jordana Grolnick, also accused Bush of groping her, according to Deadspin.
The latest statement from the office of Bush was released Wednesday and offered a detailed defense of the 93-year-old after Lind claimed that he sexually assaulted her.
The statement said that Bush has been in a wheelchair for five years and explains that he cannot reach people around the waist.
"His arm falls on the lower waist of people with whom he takes pictures," the statement read. "To try to put people at ease, the president routinely tells the same joke and on occasion, he has patted women's rears in what he intended to be a good-natured manner. Some have seen it as innocent; others clearly view it as inappropriate."
"To anyone he has offended, President Bush apologizes most sincerely," the statement added.
You ARE defending him!
That’s a sin!
Well, gosh: I guess we had better lock up old GHWB, and make an example of him!
Candidate for the TSA.
Yep
You defended a RAPIST!
Clearly the Bushes adoption of Bill Clinton has had unintended consequences

That is the hallmark of Alzheimers. My dad had a joke, a harmless one, and before the disease robbed him of speech, hed tell that same innocent joke to EVERYONE not knowing he did it that often. Sounds like Bush is trying his David Cop a feel joke on everyone, with no filters to know not to. Barbara knows he does it every time: it is her fault if she doesnt steer him AWAY from posing next to women. Ronald Reagan wasnt trotted out for selfies.
I hate the man for his lifelong actions, but he is mentally incompetent and this behavior is no longer his fault.
A friend’s 90 something father was in a nursing home for several years before he died. (In his fifties, he had a horrible industrial accident where both of his arms were severed from both shoulders.). So one afternoon a nurse came into his room and found an elderly woman on top of him, performing OS. So this was handled etc. but the next day my friend got a call from the nursing home and said the family of the woman wanted to press charges against her dad for sexual assault................
Im impressed. I wouldnt have thought he had it in him so recently.
What if you learned that he has been telling that joke for more than thirty years?
Wow.......
Another George Cop-a-Feel. A Bush on Bush crime of passion.
If I knew Herbert was telling that joke for 30 years, Id think, the sneaky creep who brought down 2.5 presidencies knows what he is doing and uses his infirmities as cover for grabbing womens butts.
Toldja I hate the guy. But living with Alzheimers as I have / do, both parents, I have some medical empathy for the patients, though none for the caregiver setting him up to do this over and over.
Apparently, this behavior goes way back before he was in a wheelchair.
And before he was the POTUS.
We all have our favorite stories and jokes from our childhood.
Clearly your friends dad psychologically groomed her and threatened her for weeks....

America’s dirty old man emeritus. I love it.
