Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina said he has confidence in Special Counsel Robert Mueller and praised his service record Wednesday on “America’s Newsroom.”
“This is a really difficult political environment we’re in. I’m not sure you could find anyone not named Jesus that everyone would be happy with. I actually am satisfied with Robert Muller,” Gowdy said during the Fox News interview.
Gowdy said it shouldn’t matter who leads an investigation into the Uranium One deal because it should ultimately follow the facts to a logical conclusion.
“Investigations should follow facts and it really shouldn’t matter who’s leading them. Facts are what direct it,” he said. “I know I’m in a small group among Republicans but I actually have confidence he’s going to reach the right conclusions for the right reasons and he’ll have credibility with the American people when he’s done.”

I’m not going to go as far as Gowdy, but I am willing to hold off for a period of time to see how this plays out.

I’ll agree with you in that the entire investigation was designed to be a giant head fake to implicate as many of the establishment pukes on the record as possible along with knowing the knee-jerk reaction the left and media would box themselves into.
Could this explain the recent actions of Corker, Flake and McCain, not to mention America’s ex-wife!

Coming from Gowdy this got me to thinking. Is it even remotely possible for Mueller to be coming close to coming clean? The hydraulic pressure on him must be tremendous, he is torn between covering for the Democratic Clinton Mafia and doing the right thing. He’s pushing 74 and may be thinking about his legacy, and the last thing he wants to be remembered for is one of Hitlery’s lackeys.
I get the drift of what you’re alluding to, but if Mueller is as big a crook himself as he’s reputed to be, right here on FR, I wouldn’t advise holding your breath.

If so, I’m still shocked at the revelations in the past few days.
Gowdy has been doing the dog and pony shows to keep the rubes occupied while he helped with the cover up.

For example, it turns out that Paul Manafort was probably a legitimate target after all ... not for his brief stint as Trump's campaign chairman, but because he was previously working with John Podesta's lobbying firm to line up deals with the Russians.

IMO, Trey Gowdy is a really good actor and very much part of the Swamp. He plays his role well, as he fooled me for quite a bit.
It wasn’t until I read other Freepers writing about how he barks alot but nothing ever comes of it, that I began to re-think my assessment. I think none of knows for sure, but personally, I have to stop listening to what they say so much, and watch what they actually do.
There’s a reason why nothing ever comes from Comey’s “barking.” A Congressional committee investigation is a political matter, not a law enforcement investigation. Congress has almost ZERO law enforcement authority. At best they can simply refer a matter to the U.S. Justice Department for criminal prosecution.
