Fox News Poll: Roy Moore, Doug Jones neck-and-neck in Alabama Senate race
Fox News ^ | October 17, 2017 | Dana Blanton

Posted on 10/17/2017 3:45:08 PM PDT by FourtySeven

Republican Roy Moore, the anti-Republican establishment candidate, is tied at 42 percent...with Democrat Doug Jones in the U.S. Senate race...

A Fox News Poll also finds that among just the 53 percent of Alabama registered voters who are extremely or very interested in the race, Jones has a one-point edge over Moore (46-45 percent).

...

The poll, released Tuesday, shows 42 percent of Moore’s supporters have some reservations about their candidate.  For Jones, that number is 28 percent.

...

Plus, 21 percent of those in the Jones camp say they’re voting against Moore as opposed to for Jones.  That’s three times the number of Moore supporters who say their vote is based on dislike of Jones (7 percent).

...

The main reasons Moore supporters give for backing him include party loyalty (41 percent) and his Christian beliefs (20 percent).  Among Jones supporters, it is party loyalty (35 percent) and their belief Moore is extreme (32 percent).

In a Republican stronghold like Alabama, it helps Jones that Democrats are more likely to back him (85 percent) than Republicans are to support Moore (77 percent).  Independents go for Jones by 33-26 percent (27 percent undecided).

...

The poll finds 29 percent say Jones is too liberal for Alabama.

On the other hand, 39 percent of voters feel Moore is out of step with Alabama today.  Even 24 percent of Republicans feel that way.

...

Only 3 in 10 Alabama voters are pleased with the way the federal government is working these days.  Most voters are either angry (22 percent) or dissatisfied (45 percent).

With the GOP controlling the White House and Congress, the Democrat Jones leads by 18 points (52-34 percent) among voters expressing frustration with Uncle Sam.  Those satisfied with the government break for Moore by 41 points (62-21 percent).

“I was afraid of this - why people backed Moore over Mo Brooks is beyond me.”

Maybe the good people of Alabama didn’t want your Jeb Bush clone named Brooks.

It's probably accurate as far as the Democrat getting 46%. That's all he can get.

If Moore goes the way of Angle, Akins, Mourdock or Angle, McConnell will never stop smirking.

Trump supports Moore. Alabama overwhelmingly supports Trump. Moore wins easy.

Tell that to Luther Strange.

So the people who support Trump, who voted for Strange, are going to let the Demoncrat win?

Sure.

Mo Brooks was the best man in that race.

It’s unfortunate he was a crappy campaigner with no money.

But he would hold every single Republican vote in an overwhelmingly Republican state.

And that’s more than either Strange or Moore could do.

It’s not likely voters? It’s of limited utility then.42% is about the rat base in Bama.

“A Fox News Poll also finds that among just the 53 percent of Alabama registered voters who are extremely or very interested in the race, Jones has a one-point edge over Moore (46-45 percent).”

I never of heard this “very interested” thing. How does that compare to likely voters?

I think they must be overestimating Black turnout. White liberals may be motivated but there aren’t many of them in Bama.

Polls seem to skew all over the place but that’s no excuse to sit on our butts - I live in MS but have been donating to Moore since he entered the ring - if folks really want him to win, sitting on their thumbs and hoping won’t cut it.....

Just a bit too early in the morning to be lectured to by you. You can shove your barrel of your gun up your ass and move to North Korea.

Exactly. Moore wasn’t removed from his position as Chief Justice by the people. His first removal was so appropriate, the people elected him to the same position at the first opportunity. /sarcasm

Moore is a strict constitutionalist, which is a big plus. Add the fact that liberals want all the Confederate monuments taken down guarantees his election. That and the 10 Commandments issue.

Moore’ biggest ads would be, “McConnell” hates me. That alone would get a Republican elected in many states.

Baris thought this poll was an “embarrassment.” Really? A D with the same approval in AL as Trump?

Not even close. Moore wins this by 10-12, and given my propensity in the last few calls to be low, it’s probably even higher.

Bill Kristol has endorsed Doug Jones.

That sound you hear is the last few people who subscribe to “The Weekly Standard” opening their birdcages.

“Mo Brooks is more of a Mitch McConnell clone.”

I think Mo aligns closer to Jeb, but your opinion is good, too.

We have a handful of Roy Moore haters who show up on these threads to trash Moore. They’re all RINO Jeb Bush lovers who are still fuming that poor Jeb didn’t get the nomination.
