Haven’t paid that much attention but is this the result of just leaving forests alone? The “Mother Nature will take care of it” nannies.
Spent many hours in Europe and they all always cleaning up their forest underbrush. They are using their brain on this one. ( or at least for this. No comment on the rest of their mess.)
Now 99,000 w/o power
These pictures are incredible:

I can’t even imagine it! What an awful weather/natural disaster year 2017 has been.
This makes my heart hurt so much! Fire is just the worst. In a flood, you can at least float!
Continuing Prayers Up!
I lived in Marin County for 25 years—left in 2009 when the economy tanked. I was a contractor and the crash just devastated my business. There will be a lot of building in Napa===maybe it’s time to move back. I have friends who have lost property in the area......
Hoping they get the fires under control—some of the most beautiful geography in the world.
Good News:
Forecaster saying going forward:
Shifting wind speeds
Calmer conditions
wind gusts down
humidity will go up

Build a house in the woods, and if it catch fire, blame it on globull warming. Don’t blame it on what it is, stupidity!!
A friend just heard his aunts house burned to the ground. Nothing left.

I’ve always nicknamed Santa Rosa as God’s country. Spent many an hour looking at real estate listings for a small spread. I have spent many happy times camping high a top in the redwoods at nearby Guerneville and kayaking the Russian river, where is mixed with the redwoods are vineyards. So sorry to hear about that special community. The kids seemed like country kids to me, didn’t know what was down the road a bit and were kind of innocent of the world. But they knew their wine! Prayers up for a sweet patch of California.
UPDATE:
Not good...Missing Persons reports have swelled to 200

Our Canyon 2 Fire here in Orange County was big enough and we were very lucky. But these fires going on up in NorCal are unbelievable. 72 hours now and the fires are growing larger. The fronts are merging.
California doesn’t practice scientific forestry so they don’t log strategic firebreaks or make small preventative fire burns, unlike states like Alabama that do.
Thus, California gets larger forest fires than states like Alabama.
And that’s how it will always be until they “Change.”
