I’m 2hrs south of these wildfires and can smell the smoke in the air. Of course, 40MPH winds overnight didn’t help.
Just a bad recipe and prayers to all that are affected.

My cousin in Santa Rosa was awakened early this AM with pounding on the door.
Immediate evac, with just enough time to grab a shirt and get their shoes on.
Fire on both sides of the road on the way out.

He is certain he lost his home and everything in it. He also has a business in town (curios and hippy art etc.) which he is hoping to save.

I am always concerned about terrorism with these kinds of fires...
I tried to find a map of where the current fires are, but the ones I found were not very detailed: Does anyone have a link to a map of fires in the Napa area?
Wine country? Guess it’s Ripple for Thanksgiving this year.
If we did controlled burns like we did 30 years ago, there would be fewer wild fires. But I guess controlled burns hurt the environment.

Very sad to see.
Not to diminish the tragedy, but it seems that they always up the superlatives when it comes to these wildfires in CA. I thought they had the worst of it a year ago before the rains came back?
Would someone please fill me in, since it’s not readily apparent by the news sources, but what exactly is burning?
Is this grasslands? Forests? Scrub? Fresh tar?
