Shock poll: NFL now least liked sport, core fans down 31%
Washington Examiner ^ | October 7, 2017 | Paul Bedard

Over just one month of player, coach and owner protests of the flag and National Anthem, the National Football League has gone from America's sport to the least liked of top professional and college sports, according to a new poll.

From the end of August to the end of September, the favorable ratings for the NFL have dropped from 57 percent to 44 percent, and it has the highest unfavorable rating -- 40 percent -- of any big sport, according to the Winston Group survey provided exclusively to Secrets.

Worse for football, which was already seeing lower TV ratings and empty stadium seats, the month of protests and complaints about them from President Trump drove core fans, men 34-54, away, the most significant indicator that NFL brass aren't in touch with their base.

The Winston Poll from the Washington-based Winston Group found that the attitude of those fans went from an August rating of 73 percent favorable and 19 percent unfavorable to 42 percent favorable and 47 percent unfavorable, a remarkable turn against the sport.

Trump’s Election and the downfall of the NFL are merely both byproducts of this uprising in the America populace, Trump didn’t cause this.

Exactly, 32 owners joined together to tell Trump and his supporters to go to hell.

They’ve proven beyond a shad9w of a doubt that football players are rich, pampered, and terminally stupid. Must be something to that brain trauma stuff.

What the excuse is for the owners and the league’s front office...well, you don’t have to be smart to be rich...as porn stars and movie makers have been proving for years.

Not a fan, never have been, but I have been a REDNECK my entire life.
Most of my REDNECK friends WERE fans, and watched and supported their teams religiously. not so much any more.
I guess the NFL forgot that most fans are REDNECKS whether they (the fans) knew it or not.
ALL REDNECKS are AMERICANS FIRST.

At least off the field is the right place for it.

I tried to point out the stupidity of this when one of my Libtard friends posted on Facebook about Senator McQueeg criticizing the President's remarks. He has his Progressive head so far up his ass that he missed my point about the accelerating debacle.

The handful of players protesting at the start of the year annoyed me. But then the President speaks up and the protests become an epidemic. And the cast of the new Star Trek show suddenly jump into the act. Are these new protestors really out there to support BLM? Or are they doing this to spite Trump? I think the latter.

I have just stopped watching the NFL because I think I will be subjected to PC crap from the Sports Media. Sunday Night Football on the first week of the new protests showed the way. I have also stopped my routine of watching ESPN's late afternoon line-up and deleted the unviewed recordings from my DVR. ESPN was already becoming unwatchable.

Maybe they can get Antifa and other Communist anarchists to attend their games to maybe bump the numbers and their wallets a bit.

I got it! —— Since they’re all about social justice and racism, they should give 75% discounts to all minorities who attend their game.

Put your money where your mouth is NFL!

Turn football off, sure. Pour the beer down the drain? That’s a bridge too far. :^)

For most of us the "race thing" doesn't have any significance for us. We have long since recognized differences with culture, not race. So the claim of racism against conservative tends to have no meaningful significance to us. I myself have been in a mixed marriage as defined by democrat laws that would have prevented me from marrying my wife. These laws existed in my lifetime so really, that crap from any leftie is about as credible as a pile of manure.

As for the NFL, they have descended into a fecal culture of hatred, racism and disrespect. They are now a product that I no longer wish to consume. They can burn for all I care.

Relieved to see so many of my peers feel the same.

>>No Football here and pour the dam beer down the drain.<<

I’m in my 70s, and have told several life-long friends that they ought to be ashamed of themselves for continuing to watch the NFL. Their silence is deafening!

Well and truly said. Actually I figured this out about 20 years ago when the end zone hotdogging triggered me to turn off the TV and take my dog for a walk.

Started out liking FB then of late when every time you read news there’s one player or other either beating their SO’s, drugs, guns, being stupid; look at Johnny Manziel for instance. Then now you have the Kneeler of the 49ers and Bennett of the KneeHawks who flat out lied about what happened in LV with the cops and he STILL hasn’t apologized for it and conned his team mates into supporting the lie. Yeah, can make better time than waste three hours watching fifteen minutes of action starring millionaire children pound each other into hamburger.

What I watched for was the owners...and which side they took. They didn’t take our side - so it’s lights out for them.

You're right - it's the owners.

I agree. Unfortunately some colleges are following NFL. We watched part of Michigan vs Michigan St. and later saw a photo of some 20 Michigan players in a circle with arms locked during the anthem, apparently encourage by Coach Harbaugh.

College donors need to make phone calls explaining why they're NOT sending in a check this year...
