Why even raise the issue if he could have left it in the trunk or at home?
What a pointless article.

Mind games from a master manipulator.
Buy rifle, dump in trash, create lots of conspiracy theories to keep your name in the news.
This is looking more and more like a “copycat” killing for fame and immortality in the news, by an atheist, than ever.

Perhaps he stashed it at another location - the place he thought he might run off to.

That’s not an area fire weapon.
That’s a pick out one person to kill weapon.

If I wanted to set off explosives taped to a petrol tank 300 yards away, this is the rifle I would want to use.

How did he expect to escape?

This “high powered rifle” brings no more to the table than does my pre-64’ Model 70 Winchester. Chambered in .308. In fact, my rifle is prettier than one posted. Still working, after all these years. 50 some...

“How did he expect to escape?”
I have no idea, but that’s what the police chief or sheriff said yesterday (i.e. he was sure Paddock expected to survive and escape). He refused to explain what evidence convinced him of that.

Still waiting on the definition of "high-powered".
Seems every single rifle ever listed in the media anywhere is, "high-powered".
I got hit with an acorn from a wrist rocket a long time ago.
It felt pretty "high-powered" at the time. d;^)

Perhaps his original plan included putting the explosives on the fuel tanks causing a massive explosion and fire and escaping because of Ithe chaos.
