Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) called for Congress to get off its ass and do something about gun violence after a deadly Las Vegas mass shooting that left at least 50 people dead.
Murphy, who emerged as a leading figure in the push for gun control legislation after the deadly mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in his state of Connecticut, said it was positively infuriating that Congress had failed to pass laws to stop gun violence.
Nowhere but America do horrific large-scale mass shootings happen with this degree of regularity. Last nights massacre may go down as the deadliest in our nations history, but already this year there have been more mass shootings than days in the year, Murphy said in a statement.
This must stop. It is positively infuriating that my colleagues in Congress are so afraid of the gun industry that they pretend there arent public policy responses to this epidemic. There are, and the thoughts and prayers of politicians are cruelly hollow if they are paired with continued legislative indifference. Its time for Congress to get off its ass and do something, Murphy said.

The U.S. is a big country, you have to look at per capita rates to make any reasonable comparison.
Liberals hearts are so dark that they have no room for compassion. There first response to a tragedy is to attack the American people.
Yep would be interesting to know how many laws this dude violated.
Heck he violated numerous laws before he even fired a shot. Would more laws really have prevented this?
Tell ya what.
Build a Trump wall, and pass a Trump budget.
Until then, nothing.
If it wasn’t guns, then it would be autos, knifes, clubs, poison, bombs.
Not under Trump Murphy.
Murphy! There’s already laws on the book limiting who can have a fully automatic weapon! GFY!
“Nowhere but America do horrific large-scale mass shootings happen with this degree of regularity.”
Still didn’t kill as many people as a muslim with a truck in France.
"I want to kill a bunch of people"... "But damn, I can't use a gun - that would be against the law".
This is the mentality of liberals.
Mama always said ... you can’t fix stupid
Do something - kick all the Mohammedans out and don’t let anymore in. Then, shut down all mosques. Arrest all “converts”. Mohammedanism is NOT a religion - it is a cult of hate.
Congress needs to get off it’s ass and cut taxes across the board. Otherwise, FUMurphy
Yo, Chris, what do you think should happen if the weapons used can be traced back to Eric Holder’s “Fast & Furious” opperation?
“There are already laws against auto. weapons....”
And murder. Pretty serious laws, in fact.
Here’s something they could do: Re-open all the mental hospitals the Demonrats closed decades ago, and start committing these leftist whackjobs for the rest of their miserable lives.
Dude...”a gunman who pledged allegiance to Islamic State militants.”
“In what way exactly? Fifty dead? Phfittt, a months shooting in Chicago.”
Neither situation is, of course, anything but tragic. But in Shitcago there is ALREADY the kind of gun regulation regime that Murphy wants...yet, there is still the violence.
I find it disgusting that they gun-grabbers NEVER even wait until the bodies assume room temperature before they start politicizing everything (that actually takes about a day to occur, unless the body is artificially cooled). They, of course, don’t even give the families the decency of a couple of days to bury their loved ones, and to start the process of coming to grips with what happened.
People like Murphy are absolute scum of the Earth.
When leftists outlaw owning guns, only outlaws will own guns.
Like someone posted on another thread....a truck, in Nice, tragically killed more people than this horrific incident.
Terrorists will ALWAYS find a tool to carry out their deadly attacks.
Ban all trucks? Ban all pressure cookers?
