Report: Middle East Refugees to Begin Arriving to U.S. from Australia
breitbart ^ | JOHN BINDER

Posted on 10/01/2017 10:58:55 AM PDT by davikkm

The first group of 1,250 mostly male Middle Eastern refugees is expected to soon arrive in the United States from Australia. The transfer of refugees comes after President Trump failed to shutter an Obama-era deal that could bring tens of thousands of the refugees’ family members to the U.S. in years to come. President Barack Obama signed the Australian-U.S. refugee deal during his last months in office — promising to take 1,250 Middle Eastern refugees off Australia’s hands.

The refugees are being held in detention centers on Manus Island and Nauru Island. Despite Trump’s original statement calling the deal “a dumb deal,” the president has now broken two long-promised campaign pledges: Throwing out deals that don’t benefit Americans and stopping the flow of foreign refugees.

According to NPR, roughly 50 foreign refugees are now on their way to the U.S. The other 1,200 are expected to follow soon after.

While the U.S. will have to resettle the 1,250 refugees across communities, Americans will see no benefits to the deal. In exchange for resettling the refugees, roughly 50-60 Central Americans who are currently residing in Costa Rica, will be resettled in Australia.

This is Trump's decision.

Get used to it.

Trump was never an immigration hawk until he decided to seek the GOP nomination.

Before the 2020 election, Trump will deport criminal immigrants and harass Sanctuary Cities - nothing more.

If he is reelected in 2020, he will give some kind of legal status to DACAs and other illegals who are not felons.

It's slow motion political suicide for Conservatives, but who else can we vote for that has any chance of winning?

This is Kelly doing .

No, it's Trump's doing. He's the President, not Kelly.

Trump is supposed to answer to The People, not his libtard advisors. He knows how we feel about this issue, but is letting people in his inner circle twist his arm. I seriously don't get it.

If we are stuck taking them due to Obama, what stops us from placing them in Puerto Rico driving trucks of disaster relief supplies the leftist teamsters refuse to move?

I don’t really think Trump was fooled here.

We let in far more than this number.

I’m more concerned about the continuing levels of people along these lines that we let in.

It needs to stop.

Do you realize we’re addressing these folks like it’s a big deal, when we let in this number very few days on our own?

Stop it all. I’m all for it.

I’m not blaming Trump for following through here.

Doesn’t mean we exactly have to make them feel welcome here.

I agree. Internment camps for all of them. Give them the choice to leave or live under a highly structured, monitored, and contained life. Great idea!

A total of 38,901 Muslim refugees entered the U.S. in fiscal year 2016. LINK

This agreement with Australia allows them to send us 1,200 refugees (Islamic). Australia will take some of our refugees from Central America. LINK

This is about 1/38th of our yearly Islamic refugee total for last year. IMO, every one of these folks is suspect, so this group of 1,200 is no worse than any other Islamic group.

It sucks that we take any of them, but I see a big deal here, this 1,200. The 38,901 figure is what angers me.

I want no more of them here, and the sooner they start sending some back, the happier I'll be.

There is honor in keeping the nation’s word.

The nation's word? I don't recall voting in a national referendum over the question of bringing these people here, do you?

No, it was Obama's word, and his alone. He had NO popular mandate to make such a promise. He did it because he could, and because he hates this country.

I don't see any honor in upholding a promise that injures your own country by design.

If this were something worse than the 38,900 we already take in, I’d side with you.

It isn’t. This is essentially a nothing burger.

Do you remember voting for the 38,900?

I don’t.

President Trump and America got screwed by Barack Obama on this issue.

But President Trump is keeping the word and the honor of America by completing the deal agreed to.

However he doesn’t have to bring these muslims to the US mainland to keep the Obama promise.

He could/should send them to one of the US Possessions:

American Samoa
Guam
Northern Mariana Islands
Puerto Rico
U.S. Virgin Islands

Here's some information that may help ease some of your concerns about the 1,200 members of Islam coming from Australia.

In first months of Trump presidency, Christians account for growing share of U.S. refugee arrivals

Next up:

Key facts about refugees to the U.S.

Under the plan, the maximum number of refugees allowed into the U.S. in fiscal 2017 will likely decline from 110,000 to 50,000. Separately, admission of Syrian refugees will be suspended pending a revision of security screening measures.

Although this addressed the fallout from his first E.O. which was struck down, lets recall he introduced another E.O. and expanded the number of restricted nations shortly after that.

I suspect we can expect something in the same range of reduced numbers this year, and a larger percentage will be Christians.

Doughty, I realize that Trump has slowed the numbers of questionable ‘refugees’ and other undesirables coming into the country since he took office. I appreciate that, and applaud whatever reduction he’s managed, thus far.

It still doesn’t change my view about his decision to honor Obama’s deal with Australia. He himself called it “a bad deal”, in February of this year (see tweet upthread),

I predict that some Americans are going to wind up paying the ultimate price for our President’s decision in this matter. When they do, it will haunt him til the end of his days.
