As ratings collapse, stadiums echo with boos, and lifelong fans burn merchandise, it appears as though a brand new set of talking points went out to the sports world, a talking point that is a bald-faced, provable lie.
As the backlash grows against these spoiled millionaires, we are now being told by their defenders that the NFL protests are “not about disrespecting” America and the flag.

I’m not sure we should make this about the flag as much as dialogue. … They’re not disrespecting the flag.

Dialogue about what?
As a sports fan I never had any interest in any "dialogue" about anything other than sports.
If I go to Home Depot to buy something I need for my home, I don't want their employees engaging with me in a "dialogue" about corporate taxes, North Korea, or anything else other than the sh!t I came to buy.
They do.
That's why they're falling all over themselves trying to pretend that these idiotic protests are something other than what they really are.

You bring up a good point and I often carry both pepper spray and a weapon since I can deploy the one before the other and maybe neutralize the threat without all the hassle & paperwork afterward, if you get my drift.
We started carrying after learning that a crazy man had invaded our church & called our Polish priest a white supremacist (Fr. K. did not know that word) before being driven forth by the men of the parish. Pepper spray would have been preferable to deadly force in that instance. Wife & I have both our CCWs & 9mm’s, BTW.
Better yet have the announcer ask everyone to kneel during the playing of the anthem in respect for the men and women who have fallen in the line of duty protecting our country and its citizens.
What would these clowns do then? Of course that person would loses their job, but firing them would be a disaster for the NFL.
“Soon expect the PA announcer to say:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, will you please kneel to dishonor America during the playing of the National Anthem”.”
Yeah, and if that happens, you would see the black players jump up like they’ve been hit in the a$$ with a cattle prod!

Respectfully disagreeing w/you, the 1st Amendment is about Government action. It has nothing to do with the actions of private business. Any non government employer may set restrictions on speech as part of employment. Try to speak out about objection to abortion or homosexuality in your private office place and see how fast HR puts a stop to it. Conflating this w/first amendment is misleading. Anyone is free to exercise their right to free speech any time anywhere BUT they are not free from the consequences of doing so.

It isn't about the First Amendment when you are working. The players represent the NFL. They don't have free speech. I am sure that players who wore white hoods or swastika arm bands during the national anthem would be fired on the spot. It is not OK with me to have the NFL sanction these offensive gestures. I hold them responsible for their existing policies. Yes, they should suffer the consequences of their actions in the marketplace. I don't say "carry on," I say F*CK OFF.
Both sides is the player opposers and the player supporters.
I don't see them as being moral equivalents. The players who insult the flag and the anthem and support the anti-police, anti-American rhetoric deserve condemnation. What is your problem with the "player opposers"?
