Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said in an interview that aired on Saturday there is "a lot of evidence" that President Trump appeals to white supremacists.
"I certainly think there is a lot of evidence as to how he has behaved historically, during the campaign, and as president, that he is appealing to those who are [white supremacists]," Clinton told MSNBC's Joy Reid on "AM Joy."
"Now, I can't look into his heart. I can't say what he really feels, because I think he is such a political opportunist, that if he could get you know, votes and loyalty from a different direction he would probably go there," she continued.
"But he started off from the very first day attacking Mexicans, calling them rapists. He had dog whistles that got increasingly louder on immigrants and Latinos and African-Americans and women and Muslims and the whole panoply of scapegoats that he was holding out to his supporters as the explanation for whatever their grievance was," she said.

Who are the real white supremacists? Blacks have been voting in lockstep for white Democrats for half a century, and where has it gotten them?
What have they gained for their loyalty, except second class citizenship, failing schools, squalid neighborhoods, institutionalized criminality amongst their youth, 70% out of wedlock births, thug culture raised to high status, and widespread hopelessness and downward mobility across the boards?
Have the fortunes of white liberals fallen like those of their black supporters, or have they improved over the same period of time?
Which of them is actually ‘supreme’ in that relationship, and how is it that blacks haven’t seemed to have noticed?
White supremacists? Look no further than the white liberal elites who’ve kept blacks isolated, downtrodden, and dependent for over half a century.
