Campus is on lockdown. This is after the shooting of the dude with a knife last night who came at a police officer. Suicide by cop.

I was on the scene of a shootout in Tulsa years ago. Watched the whole thing. Fire Dept. beat the police there - by a long shot, too.

Yes, it all sounds like caps guns 100 - 150 feet away. One guy took up a position maybe 50 feet or less away from me and was shooting at another guy (who may have still been shooting at someone else).

THAT was an interesting night. Newspaper account (read it online) had it wrong, of course.

Please don’t make fun or make light of this. My daughter is on the Georgia Tech campus as a minister for Christ and is at risk. She graduated in May but is on campus for another year to serve.

Concur. My grandfather was a cop in a small town in the 30s. If someone pulled a knife on a cop, they got shot or a beatdown- regardless of the reason. It was a prophylactic against future violence.

The difference is that the crazy people were sent away or kept at home (no drugs back then), and an article like this would have never been picked up by national news.

No other civilized county’s police would have have shot this guy at that point. They simply would have moved away from him and resumed efforts to non-leathaly neutralize him. Police in the US used to be more like that too.
