The IOC (International Olympic Committee) made a historic announcement by announcing two cities that will have won an Olympic bid: Los Angeles and Paris. Paris has won the bid for the 2024 Olympics, for the 100th anniversary of the 1924 Olympics which they hosted as well. Los Angeles will host the 2028 Olympics 4 years later.
This is the first time that the IOC has made a dual announcement. This also comes with just two cities bidding for the 2024 summer games, with a deal that allowed Paris to go first to celebrate the anniversary. Los Angeles will go second, and receive $180 million from the IOC. The deal was unanimous.
This, however, is not going to be a huge windfall for Los Angeles. In fact, this is only the beginning of the nightmare for the City of Angels.

I was there, too. During the Olympics, the rush hour traffic jams disappeared and commuters could drive at normal speeds--a very pleasant surprise, as we had feared that the Olympics would bring massive traffic and gridlock.
LOL, when I heard LA got the Games, my first reaction was, that it would be the second time Mexico has hosted the Games.
I know. I used to at least tune in for the equestrians. I just hate it when “Olympics Year” rolls around. Look for the terrorists to take advantage.
I would suggest our current president, but he's probably got enough on his plate right now. ;)
Since sponsoring venues can introduce ew events maybe they will have an Olympic fence climbimg or sneaking under race.

Uh, third time’s a charm? LOL!
Agree. Reading though the article, it doesn’t at all make the case that the Olympics will be terrible for Los Angeles. It just mentions some of the obvious challenges every city has faced in staging them, but L.A. will likely build very little new stuff specifically for the Olympics, and yet, they have the capacity to accommodate a huge number of visitors, and to quickly and efficiently relieve them of all of their discretionary income!
Islamic jihadists are slavering at the mouth for the Paris Olympics.
By 2028, the won’t be a Los Angeles. The crazies will rename it Lenin City and it will be part of Mexico.
“We quit watching years ago.”
Pretty much quit in 1980s. They’re boring.
“I was there in 1984, and they did a fine job.”
Mostly because the big trucks only ran at night. They ought to have made that permanent.
But the Olympics will be not be held in and organized by the Los Angeles of 1984.
LA in 1984 wasn’t a Mexicanized city, California wasn’t a suicidal economic basket case, and the white liberal elites didn’t have a complete strangehold on everything, either.
It’s going to be more like the Rio Olympics—venues barely slapped together in time, massive disorganization and corruption at all levels, and half the city in lockdown.
and locals will take their vacation and leave and rent out their homes. Less traffic.
Wherever in the US the Olympics are held, especially in LA, BLM will riot if black athletes do not win everything. Antifa will join in rioting the unfairness of white athletes. It’s going to be a mess, as everything held in the public eye is. The key words are “public eye.” The spontaneous paid demonstrators just want press exposure.
professional bb players did it in...then professional tennis players, etc...
I loved watching the unknowns have their day.
there will be no female sports anymore....we'll have boys and men pretending they're female and they'll win every contest...
no thanks....
