We know, to the best of our senses and instruments, that the universe exists. How did it come into reality 13.8 billion years ago? In other words, what caused the Big Bang?
Roughly speaking, there are two possibilities: “nothing” caused the universe to come into being or “something” triggered it into existence.

Actually there are three. The third is that it doesn’t exist at all in the form we imagine. It’s all an illusion.
Either the universe has always existed, or it came to be out of nothing. Either way is mind blowing.
It’s amusing how the so-called big bang is spoken of as ‘settled science’; fact.
And no explanation of how it came into being in the first place (woe to them who bring up that follow-up question!).
From absolute nothingness came the universe by God. The Planck Epoch t=0 to approximately t=10**(-43) belongs to God. The physics and mathematics that came from nothingness takes over after that.

God did it. And He has always existed.

The question is wrong. It is not WHAT. It is WHO.
The assumption of billions of years is wrong.

There’s no evidence for the big bang in the first place; it’s simply a theory.
Surely they could also dream something else up to explain it all, right?
Matrix – the universe is a simulation like in the Matrix movie
Lab – the universe was created in a lab for a specific purpose known only to the alien scientists
Basement – the universe was created by someone who is not an expert, like a teenager living in his parent’s basement
I think this author may have been playing with us but it was an interesting article.
