UPDATED at 7 p.m. to reflect downtown protests dissipating, protesters in Central West End.
ST. LOUIS • Police pepper-sprayed demonstrators Friday afternoon as they declared the ongoing protest at Tucker Boulevard and Clark Avenue downtown as "no longer peaceful".
By early evening, protesters had dissipated from downtown and were gathering in the Central West End. Hundreds filled the street there as they marched through the neighborhood.
Four police officers sustained minor injuries downtown, mainly as a result of protesters throwing things at them, and more than a dozen protesters were arrested, acting Police Chief Lawrence O'Toole said. He said one officer was treated for a hand injury, and three others declined medical treatment.

I will say that the city was well prepared. That said, I was a little puzzled by the decision, because it certainly sounded to me like at least excessive use of force and I don’t think the cop was completely without blame.
But rioting isn’t the way to solve it, and in fact, the expectation that people are now going to riot no matter what the decision has actually even devalued rioting. (If such a thing is possible!)
Not to worry.
They are using Section 8 housing to metastasize the cancer to rural areas and small towns.

My sister lives in the area and explained they went for Murder 1 - and that’s the problem. He might have been convicted of manslaughter, but not enough evidence for 1st degree.
