He also called out Flake without saying his name. Conventional wisdom says that he shouldn’t do that because they only have 51 votes so not smart to make enemies in his own party. That’s stupid, it fails to acknowledge that those guys are already enemies and the only thing to fix it is to bring them to heel. Make them fear the consequences of stabbing Trump in the back. There’s no hope for McCain, he’s a dead man walking (literally) but Flake has to hope to get reelected someday. Make him sweat and see what the power of the bully pulpit in his own backyard can do to him.

This rally was a very good idea. Trump eats this stuff up, he feeds on it. It energizes him. When the beatings from the press get too much, just one day with an excited and cheering crowd of people who love him is enough to make him say "the press? who cares about what they say? I have the PEOPLE!"

Interviews with supporters before the rally clearly showed that supporters are getting very weary of objectives not getting accomplished.
