Former Speaker of the House and longtime Trump supporter Newt Gingrich is seriously worried about the future of Donald Trumps presidency.
Gingrich, who has consistently been one of Trumps most optimistic supporters, said Friday morning that Trump is more isolated than he realizes and needs to make serious changes if hes going to have a stable presidency.
I think hes in a position right now where hes much more isolated than he realizes, Gingrich said in an interview with Fox News Bill Hemmer. On the Hill, he has far more people willing to sit to one side and not help him right now, and I think that he needs to recognize that hes taken a good first step with bringing in General Kelly, but he needs to think about what has not worked. You dont get down to 35 percent approval and have people in your own party shooting at you and conclude that everythings going fine.
How many times have we had this conversation? It was John McCain, Gold Star families and Access Hollywood. Is this week that much different than the numerous other situations? Hemmer asked.
It is only different in that you go through little ground, little ground, little ground, and after a while you have enough different people pull back that you are in a qualitatively different position and right now, that if he wants to get his agenda enacted that if he wants get things done and have a presidency that is stable, he is going to have to have a couple of serious changes, Gingrich said.
I think The Art of the Comeback, which is a fascinating book that he wrote in 1997, is a really helpful reminder and he needs to think of what hasnt been working and what he will do that is more effective in the rest of the presidency.
I don’t know. 30 years of reconstruction is sort of glossed over in our history books. My family wasn’t Southern so we didn’t experience it but it wouldn’t surprise me (doesn’t surprise me) that there are so many who still remember the North extracting their pound of flesh. In fact, it occurred to me that these monuments they want torn down may well have been the North’s “apology” for Reconstruction’s crimes. Notice they were all erected AFTER Reconstruction.
My former state.
Because Manchin is a moral coward who is also happens to be trapped in an impossible situation. Here is his trap:
1. West Virginians want Obamacare gone.
2. If Medicaid enrollment gets slashed, West Virginians will burn his house to the ground.
He needs a bill that ends Obamacare without touching Medicaid.
Once again Newt runs around like a chicken with his head chopped off self-promoting.
“Plus he has the killing machine of Breitbart..”
Ridiculous. Beitbart has credibility with maybe 30% of the country and has been singled out being another racist entity to great effect by MSM. At this point any story there is effectively in the dead letter office for news stories. Things look a little dim for our side.
Newt needs to shut his know it all pie hole. He was rejected for ANYTHING in our administration— not even dog cather because he is an egomaniac blabber mouth with literally nothing but platitudes and self aggrandizement , We want Trump to change absolutely nothing and to keep firing non pc bullets at the head if this pc beast until it dies. Trump is gaining in support— not losing it!! Phoenix will be huge !! They are coming in busses from all over the Western United States to praise their President!!, He said nothing wrong at charlottevile— in fact he was exactly right about the left wing terrorist ant-trumper and they must be crushed. They charged the innocent demostrators!!!!
I don’t get the whole thing with Mcmaster. Maybe he is given free reign to try to stave off impeachment.
That dude should be gone.
Sorry, but I call BS.
Newt has never been a true Trump supporter, but just someone who was able to read the writing on the wall.
He is too globalist for Trump.
He is a relentless self-promoter.
Tillerson rejects bannon claim about NK
There should be no compromises of language or backing down, encourage and promote peaceful resistance and allow the Left to be violent and challenge ‘the Middle’ and the Republicans and so on as to whose side they are choosing in the emerging conflict.
Uh, Obadiah, if they couldn’t impeach Clinton for perjury, they can’t impeach Trump for NOTHING.
If the GOP goes along with a Trump lynching, they will DIE as a political party - if they haven’t killed themselves already.
So crawl back in your Troll-Hole with Strac, unless you the same person - which is more than possible.
I hate Trolls.
Who is Newt to offer advise when he was thrown out of his Speakership with the help of backstabbing Republicans?
Curious that you recognize the need for allies and are willing to accept RINOs in our ranks. I wonder who else we “need”? How about White people who have had enough of 40 years of “affirmative action”? Should they be considered “White Nationalists” and shunned? Maybe we should start being very clear about who we will allow as allies. Who else would you invite to join us?
It occurs to me that maybe the reason there was a “Unite the Right” rally was because the Left is already united. Here we are in the dugout trying to figure out the batting line up and positions and the other time is in the bottom of the fourth and racking up score after score. Do you think we can get on the field somewhere before the bottom of the eighth?
Newt Gingrich ran the most successful communications campaign by a Republican in a full century, at least.
And this does call for a communications campaign.
And Trump would do well to plead to Newt’s patriotism to join his administration as its new Communications Director.
President Trump IS stable. It's the rest of Washington that has gone full tilt bananas.
The entire leftiverse is unbalanced, so from their point of view, everything about Trump (and us) is dangerously out of kilter. If Newt sees things like they do, it doesn't say much about his ability to correctly size up the situation.
The Trump presidency isn't unstable. It's surrounded by forces that are bent on destabilizing, and ultimately destroying it. That's what needs handling.
Got it, chief. So much for rational discussion.
It’s certainly true that actually being a part of an Administration (or of any of the fedgov) can change people for the worse.
That is exactly WHAT we voted for, WHO President Trump is and WHY he is being relentlessly attacked by the, rabid, DEMONICALLY CONTROLLED deep state, the MSM, the leftist, communist anarchists, the antichrist, antichristian, antisemitic, anti-white RACISTS.
President Trump is fighting FOR US and AGAINST ALL OF THE ABOVE. Their days are numbered and they know it. That is why they have declared all out war against all of us, our beloved president, and everything he is seeking to accomplish in order to protect AMERICAN CITIZENS and Make America Great Again.
Please keep President Trump and his administration in prayer because what we are witnessing is a SPIRITUAL BATTLE and SPIRITUAL WARFARE designed by Satan and his minion followers to destroy America from within. Tagline
He sometimes runs off at the mouth sounding more like someone with Tourette syndrome than a "brilliant" professor.
His uncalled for ramblings are why he is not part of the Trump administration.
I'm not blind to Trump's faults and I've criticized his actions when I've disagreed with them (such as some of his cabinet appointments, his bombing of Syria, the growing liberal influence of Jared and Ivanka etc).
However, most of the "instability" that Newt is talking about isn't the President's fault. It's the fault of a political establishment (including many in his own party) who are committed to undermine him at every move, and a hostile media which has poisoned public opinion against him. For instance, Trump made an entirely accurate remark about far left (Antifa/BLM) violence being as much of a problem as "far right" violence. The fits of hysteria among establishment Republicans are their own fault - they're more interested in virtue-signaling to the Left than in hearing the truth.
I don't particularly care for physical fighting, but if our Great Republic and our Constitution are to survive it is becoming clearer with each passing day that fighting -- in all of its forms -- is inevitable. The home-grown enemies of America are not interested in negotiation or tolerance ... they are interested only in destroying those things that made America great.
Then so be it.
Preserving our Republic and our Constitution is worth the pain -- much less the inconvenience -- of a fight. A true fight.
