The day after Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch sat out the national anthem, his former team-mate Michael Bennett has followed his lead.
The Seattle Seahawks defensive end, who is known for his strong views, sat with a towel draped over his head during the anthem before Sunday’s game against the Los Chargers. Bennett said he plans to continue the protest for the rest of the season, and his stance was influenced by the far-right violence in Charlottesville over the weekend. Colin Kaepernick attracted attention when he chose to kneel for the anthem last season as a protest at racial injustice in the United States.
“The last week, with everything that’s been going on in the last couple months—especially after the last couple days seeing everything in [Charlottesville] Virginia ... [I] just wanted to be able to continue to use my platform to be able to speak on injustice,” Bennett said after Sunday’s game.
How about putting it in their contracts. Millions of dollars to spit in the face of patriotic Americans. No stand no pay I say.
Well, my NFL season just ended.
I watched a rugby game a few weeks back on TV.

I used eat, sleep, and breathe football from Labor Day to February. Sunday noon through Monday at midnight you could find me in front of a TV. I was in a half-dozen fantasy leagues, and simply couldn't get enough of the NFL.
Things changed, slowly and by degrees. Refs called more ticky-tacky penalties, and most long-yardage plays had flags come out. This, along with interminable "instant replay" delays" slowed the games down. The NFL added Sunday morning games in Europe, and Sunday night games to their schedule. Mondays were no longer locked-in from 9 to midnight, they added an extra game here and there. Thursdays (beyond Thanksgiving) were added in, and the games weren't broadcast on National TV. I began to lose interest.
Bob Costas insisted on lecturing us on his current political fad, and BO showed up on telecasts to pimp his latest thoughts. That really turned me off, never mind whether I agree or not, I want to see football, not more politics.
So, when Kapernick (and others) did his thing last season, I more or less walked away. No Fantasy Leagues, for the first time in a couple of decades. No new shirts, jerseys, any spending whatsoever. I can count the number of times I watched on two hands, and still have some fingers left over.
I didn't quit the NFL, it left me. Last year was nice; I had a lot of extra time to spend with the family, and working around the house. Frankly, I found that I didn't particularly miss it.
See my #88...I was surprised at how much time tuning out freed up for me.
I can see if my favorite team won be checking the scores at the end of the day. WITHOUT watching for 3 hours.. 50 minutes of which is commercials and pundit BS.
Its time for the NFL and NBA to go by the wayside and be relegated only to prison leagues.
Would love to see both leagues go under.
Every player could stand with a flag in one hand and a sparkler in the other and I still wouldn’t watch this product. It’s a sport that keeps changing its rules to attract the lowest common denominator casual fan by increasing scoring. And the players can’t even self police each other for sportsmanship, thus dorky chest slapping displays and swishy celebratory dance routines. They had to come up with lame rules to stop the worst of it. Seems like garbage with or with out any anthem protests to me.

Since these stadiums are publicly funded and some players are making a political protest, could the case be made that those opposed to the player’s political protest should be allowed to enter the stadium for free to counter the player’s political protest? If those opposed to the player’s political protest are denied free entrance to the stadium is this not a form of governmental trying to silence you?
I wonder how Vince Lombardi would have handled it.
They rent or lease the stadium, so it’s the prerogative of the owner who rents/leases the stadium..................

This racial krap was created by a President of The United States Barrack H Obama using a politicial device. Usually attributed to the communist/socialist movement,known as division. Which is used when there are political problems such as impeachment which threaten control.
Obama took a Florida incident where an assault on a black skinned security guard with a Jewish last name by a black youth.The youth wound up being killed while he was beating the guard whom he had laying prone on a sidewalk during the struggele over the guard’s gun. Where this took place was within a Florida medium income integrated townhouse duplex private housing development.
If this incident weren’t politicized it would have to gone trial and treated as a cut and dried episode which unfortuately occurs too frequently.
However it wasn’t. In fact Obama’s political interjection aided by the media wound up not only allowing the incident to develop into the BLM . Worse Obama’s statements wound up being picked up by black gangs claiming to defend “Black Honor” as at least a score of assaults on non blacks resulted in murders throughout the nation. Such as the murder of Christopher Lane a twenty plus year old Australian from Melbourne killed by members of the Crypts in Duncan Oklahoma .
All the Left Coast teams suck.
