Michael Bennett [Seahawks] sits for anthem with more NFL players set to follow

Several players plan protests following violence in Charlottesville Colin Kaepernick still without a team after protest last season Bennett says protest is not a sign of disrespect for military

The day after Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch sat out the national anthem, his former team-mate Michael Bennett has followed his lead.

The Seattle Seahawks defensive end, who is known for his strong views, sat with a towel draped over his head during the anthem before Sunday’s game against the Los Chargers. Bennett said he plans to continue the protest for the rest of the season, and his stance was influenced by the far-right violence in Charlottesville over the weekend. Colin Kaepernick attracted attention when he chose to kneel for the anthem last season as a protest at racial injustice in the United States.

“The last week, with everything that’s been going on in the last couple months—especially after the last couple days seeing everything in [Charlottesville] Virginia ... [I] just wanted to be able to continue to use my platform to be able to speak on injustice,” Bennett said after Sunday’s game.

In fact Obama’s political interjection

Much as I hated Obama this was really on the MSM

When they run to his presser guy to find his thoughts he has to respond or alienate his base

Obama could care less but the issue was forced on him

The least offensive thing his they could come up with was that if I had a son BS

Playing the anthem prior to sporting events is a nice formality. I couldn’t care less who chooses not to stand. What matters is that I always do.

Your supposed to “use your platform” to attract and keep an audience.

Plus- it is not YOUR platform.

Just a rhetorical question. How long would it take for a massive, all-out boycott of the NFL to show significant results, if started today?

At least Kapernick wasn’t lazy about it, he got up, walked over, and took a knee.

This guy is just too lazy to bother. Why is he sitting? It’s not a protest, he just doesn’t want to be troubled with having to get his butt off the bench.

I wonder how long it would have taken the likes of a coach like Lombardi to get rid of those like these punks.

About two minutes.

At the end of the Star-Spangled Banner.

Of course, the rules were different then.................

Yup, And the rules wouldnt matter to someone like Lombardi.

Jim Ringo comes to mind. Although that wasnt as serious as this is. Ringo found out that a agent didnt help him with Lombardi.

Me too! I haven’t watched a single play since 1998.

Of course, I also gave all sports on TV at that time as well.

I realized that professional sports are nothing but grown men

playing what are essentially children’s games.

I also have not missed it at all.

The NFL admits they took a hit from this last year.

I guess the NFL Commissioner thinks this is going to win people over to them and influence people?

Another year of not supporting the NFL for me.
I will not watch any NFL game or patronize any NFL sponsors until they show that they are Americans and love what America stands for.

BS If you believe that those statements weren’t calculated and that any reaction to them weren’t discussed and considered including the circumstances leading to that trial. Is at minimum pure foolishness.

They needed another Horst Wessel and they created one.

My tag is an expression of frustration. Drives me nuts when talkies like Limbaugh when they refer to the BLN movement avoid mentioing the Zimmerman trial which is where this started.

Jarrett has been the brains of the regime. They knew how black gangs would react to those statements as they did. The problem was that we heard nothing from the political opposition and because they didn’t Black Lives Matter movement was started and pretty close to a dozen cops were targeted and killed. The obly black lawman I know of who stood againmst this was David Clarke. Who seemed to agree with my assessment at the time.

This conspiracy can lead to point shaving to prove who is in control and have

their tribe members cash in against the casinos books and other outlets. Can’t

trust the game?, the bettors / viewing majority will fade away. Networks lose.

Sponsors lose, employees of the sponsors lose, 12% of the population lose more

than their share of employment. The ghetto will hurt more. Suicide by disloyalty.

“Last year a second string quarterback virtually reduced interest in the NFL by 10-25% singlehandedly.”

I would wager they will cook the books such that reported viewership is up slightly this year even if it is down.

I watched NFL 4 plays last year. It will be none this year. No MLB, NHL, or NBA either. It is time to turn off the dollar flow to the entertainment swamp.

Given that the NFL can make up any rule they like (deflategate) they should make it a rule that players stand for the anthem and a violation would mean a four game suspension. That may put a stop to this inane display of hate.

There are so many other things I can do rather than watch a bunch of overpaid idiots “play” on TV. The NFL has lost its most loyal and avid fans.
