The mayor of Lexington, Kentucky, says after the events in Charlottesville, Virginia, he is taking the steps to remove two Confederate-era statues from the lawn of a former courthouse.
Mayor Jim Gray tweeted Saturday he will ask the Lexington-Fayette County Urban County Council at its Tuesday work session to ask a state military commission for permission to take down the statues of John Hunt Morgan and John C. Breckinridge.
Gray tweeted he intended to make the announcement next week, but the "tragic events in Charlottesville" had accelerated his announcement.

They might as well take down the Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln memorials while they are at it. Then move the government to Kansas.
I don’t understand why more Southern men are not out protesting their symbols being torn down. Why is this being left to insane neo-nazis, many from outside of the South to protest this? Shouldn’t the millions of Southern conservatives be able to muster thousands of respectable citizens in Southern States to protest removing these monuments? Will they not get off their ass or does no one care or what? College football and other leisure pursuits are certainly not being neglected by this demographic, so it’s certainly not a matter of time or money.
Failure to stop the drive against Confederate symbols will inevitably lead to serious campaigns to remove Washington’s and Jefferson’s names, and then on from there to Lincoln for being racist, etc. There has got to be a more serious effort by conservatives to get active on this front now before the situation gets worse.
That is coming next...do not doubt it. Give these commies an inch and they’ll take an acre.
Why are folks not up in arms over statues? Religion? There are far more egregious wrongs that deserve attention than the removal of man made statues. If men aren’t out protesting the murder of their offspring, why would they care about destruction of marble or stone likenesses of long dead defenders of slavery?
Breckinridge was Vice President of the United States from 1857 to 1861.

The obvious solution is just to rename the statues “Grant” and “Sherman”.
Move them to private property then you can control who gets near them.

It’s raging in Dallas right now. I figure they’ll get their way, so I don’t pay too much attention to it.
