oogle has fired an employee who authored an internal memo, which leaked online, criticizing the tech giants diversity policies, Bloomberg reports.
James Damore attacked Googles politically correct monoculture in the memo titled Googles Ideological Echo Chamber. It has been published online in full by Motherboard, which first reported on the document, and by Gizmodo.
We are unequivocal in our belief that diversity and inclusion are critical to our success as a company, Danielle Brown, Googles Vice President of Diversity, Integrity & Governance, wrote in a memo responding to Damores document, Motherboard reports. Part of building an open, inclusive environment means fostering a culture in which those with alternative views, including different political views, feel safe sharing their opinions. But that discourse needs to work alongside the principles of equal employment found in our Code of Conduct, policies, and anti-discrimination laws.
The memo went viral internally at Google, according to Motherboard, and many current and former employees spoke out against it on social media after it was made public. But sources told Motherboard there was at least some agreement to the authors viewpoints from some Google employees. And his memo quickly caught the attention of conservatives, especially in the alt-right, who have rallied around him, with many seeing his treatment by Google as reinforcement that their views are not accepted by Googles leadership. In June, a shareholder asked at a meeting if conservatives would be accepted at the company.

2. Damore Says He Was Fired for Perpetuating Gender Stereotypes & Says He Will Likely Take Legal Action Against Google

I see today’s smear is “alt-right”.
Part of building an open, inclusive environment means fostering a culture in which those with alternative views, including different political views, feel safe sharing their opinions, as long as those opinions are pre-approved and do not conflict with any of ours.”
What kind of a bonehead manager fires someone for “promoting gender stereotypes?” I wouldn’t normally think Damore has much of a legal case, but Google’s actions are so ridiculous, it might meet the threshold.
Yeah... Like the alt-right graduates from Harvard.
Well, everybody knows the “alt-right” is opposed by the “always-wrong” Ctrl-Left, so their hatred and disdain is no insult.
I heard him on Stefan Moleneux(sp?) today. While he may have more of a centrist view, he’s still pretty much a lib who will go crawling back to Google. IMHO.
"...and we're happy to include Mr. Damore in the ranks of the unemployed."
Part of building an open, inclusive environment means fostering a culture in which those with alternative views, including different political views, feel safe sharing their opinions.
"...unless, of course, they're wrong opinions, in which case 'safe' means 'you're fired.'"
Brown is trying to have it both ways, as usual. In fact, you either tolerate dissent or you don't, because dissent is inherently "hurtful" to anyone who claims they're "hurt" by disagreement and "hostile" to anyone who regards disagreement as hostility. At some point some court is going to rule that political correctness is itself a hostile working environment, which it is. That will not please the Vice Presidents Of Diversity.
A company with a Vice President of Diversity, Integrity & Governance isn't long for this world. This is a company that has clearly gotten away from its core business functions.
An excellent observation. Also worth noting is that as a VP, I'm sure that she has an associated staff. Wonder if the positions will survive the next economic downturn?
I don’t know about the private sector, but my observation is that positions like this are created in the government (in particular the school system) when there is a person they want to give a job to who has no skills. They create a fake do-nothing (or do-very-little) job with a fancy title and hand it out to a political crony. Almost always a minority and bonus if it’s a minority woman.
“What kind of a bonehead manager fires someone for promoting gender stereotypes?”
The commissary of “Diversity, Integrity & Governance... in other words the Senior VP of Affirmative Action. Not a manager, but herself an A-A hire. She sees Danmore’s memo as a direct threat to her ricebowl.
Commissary = commissar (d@mn spellcheck)
I dint understand this one. Why red?
Google embraces diversity so much, it can’t stand anyone who doesn’t
Goolag - USSR!?
