Multiple Republican senators broke with President Trump on Wednesday after he announced on Twitter than transgender troops would be banned from serving in the military.
In separate statements, GOP Sens. John McCain (Ariz.), Joni Ernst (Iowa), Richard Shelby (Ala.), and Orrin Hatch (Utah) all criticized Trump for his decision that Obama-era rules allowing transgender troops to serve would be reversed.
McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, ripped the call and said that Trump shouldn't be making policy announcements via tweet.
The Presidents tweet this morning regarding transgender Americans in the military is yet another example of why major policy announcements should not be made via Twitter," McCain wrote in his statement.
The statement was unclear," he added. "The Department of Defense has already decided to allow currently-serving transgender individuals to stay in the military, and many are serving honorably today. Any American who meets current medical and readiness standards should be allowed to continue serving."
"There is no reason to force service members who are able to fight, train, and deploy to leave the military regardless of their gender identity."

Thank God none of them are the Commander in Chief because Trump is following the advice of his military commanders
Apprently these “ GOP Senators” think they know better
Realizing that someone merely treated for depression is rejected for service... !
Transgenders are mentally ill and we do not need mentally ill people in the military. Our job is to kill people and blow up things, not be a laboratory for social experiments.
Graham isn’t worried, South Carolina votes for him even after he has championed amnesty multiple times.
I’d like to know more about the senator’s reasons for disagreeing with this policy. This was SOP before we had that loser Obama as president, to my knowledge. It was spelled out pretty well in the manual I had in the military. Having these deviants in the military adds nothing to it,except problems.
Wounded veterans are neglected but the military is supposed to spare no expense if a tranny wants elective surgery.
As I recall, Orin Hatch got buddies in Hollywood when he supported their suits or legislation protecting their so-called ownership of music or film.
As I’ve seen reported, the Hollywood “celebrities” with mental issues are having meltdowns over Trump. Hatch’s targeted audience.
Unlike the prositutes in the uni-party President Trump does have the balz to reverse or take away a Welfare Program! Join the military and get a free append-dicktomy or add-adicktomy!
Mo brooks offering to withdraw from race if others will too so sessions can have his senate seat back...have we ever seen anything like this?
Joni is just pissed that she was not informed as a member of the AFC. She’s a big time Spinator now you know?
Separation from active AND reserve duty “for the good of the Service”.
Honorable conditions. Same as anyone released from service for compelling personal reasons.
It’s good to know where these people stand on the issue. Their seats in Washington now are more viulnerable than they were yesterday.
I guess I have to add Ernst and Shelby to my list.
We need new Republicans.
Alexander, Corker, Flake, Gardner, Graham, Hatch, Heller, Hoeven, Murkowsky, McCain, Rubio, Burr, Tillis, Portman, McConnell, Thune, Cornyn, Cochran, Isackson, Blunt, Johnson, Toomey, Capito, Rounds, Fischer, Collins, Wicker, Sasse, Shelby and Ernst are all Democrats in R jerseys.
Next these freaks are going to demand “tummy tucks” and “eye lifts”, etc. be covered as well as Nutri System meals so they can look like Marie Osmond.
To all opposed, TOUGH CHIT.
To all those in favor, HOOAH!
I wonder how much money has been wasted on this CHIT?
Mattis also just laid down the law today banning all non-Combat related training. Anxious to see what that produces.
This administration must do everything possible within the law that they can, without asking permission or offering apology. The left is going to be pissed and combative no matter what the administration does so it may as well be for a good reason.
That’s my biggest gripe.
Trump threw a shiny new diversionary object out there as red meat for the rabid media. Not hearing much about the Russians lately have you LOL
Favorite t-shirt;)
I’d say that someone who thinks it is OK for a he to claim he is a she and take hormones to sort of look like a she is too flexible and does not know boundaries or consider the negative implications of the agreement but that would be judgmental.
I also don’t see any upside in this agreement for the majority involved or affected and so don’t see any reason to inconvenience the majority for the spurious benefit of the minority.
I’d say that anyone who thinks they are transgendered are a bubble off and don’t belong with the majority of men in a military environment who know they are men and for a long list of other very good reasons.
But hell, that’s just to black and white and what the hell do I know.
“Im surprised by Richard Shelby being on this list.”
Same here. I knew he had RINO tendencies but this is isn’t very intelligent of him.
This will not go over very well with his constituents & I am one of them. I’m ashamed of his actions.
