Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will return to the Senate on Tuesday after being diagnosed with brain cancer, giving the GOP push to repeal and replace ObamaCare a boost of momentum.
Senator McCain looks forward to returning to the United States Senate tomorrow to continue working on important legislation, including health care reform, the National Defense Authorization Act, and new sanctions on Russia, Iran and North Korea," McCain's office said on Monday evening.
McCain was absent last week after having a blood clot removed from above his left eye, and it was unclear earlier Monday if he would return for the chamber's action on healthcare.
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), the No. 2 Senate Republican, said earlier that McCain was trying to get approval from his doctor. But Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) didn't "expect" McCain to return.
Republicans are expected to vote to take up the House-passed healthcare bill on Tuesday afternoon. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) will need 50 of the Senate's 52 Republicans to vote "yes" on the initial hurdle.
If McCain hadn't returned, McConnell could only afford to lose one GOP senator on the initial hurdle. With McCain back he can afford to lose two GOP senators and still let Vice President Mike Pence break a tie.
McConnell sparked speculation Monday evening that McCain would be returning soon when he teed up the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), an annual bill that is crafted by the Arizona Republican.
Leadership had indicated last week that they wanted to wait until McCain returned to the Senate to try to move the bill.

McCain is a dying man and he knows it. He’s a narcissist and wants to go out with a bang.
He doesn’t give a d@mn about the citizens of Arizona, the real “constituents” he cares about is the Trump-hating Fake News Media.

When his staff can no longer get a "presentable" image out of the old fart. As long as he can shuffle into the room and recite one or two sentences they will keep him in that Senate seat. It's all theirs now - all the promises of future payoffs are being given to them instead of the old has-been.

If he had any decency he would resign and spend his last days with his family.
But it’s John McCain, so we know he doesn’t have any decency, he wants to make sure some kind of amnesty passes and Obamacare does not get repealed.
