Attorney General Jeff Sessions says he plans to stay in role, despite Trump’s comments about him
The Washington Post ^ | 7/20/2017 | Matt Zapotosky and Sari Horwitz

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Thursday that he plans to stay in his job despite the president’s public assertion that he would not have nominated Sessions to the post had he known that he would recuse himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

At a news conference ostensibly meant to announce the takedown of an illicit online marketplace, Sessions said he had the “honor of serving as attorney general,” and he planned “to continue to do so as long as that is appropriate.” Asked how he could keep working, having apparently lost President Trump’s confidence, Sessions responded: “We’re serving right now. The work we’re doing today is the kind of work that we intend to continue.

“I’m totally confident that we can continue to run this office in an effective way,” Sessions added.

On Wednesday, the New York Times published an article about an interview with Trump in which the president said he would not have appointed Sessions attorney general had he known Sessions would recuse himself from the investigation into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to influence the 2016 election.

‘Preferably a pit bull ex AG from a conservative city.’

I’ll second that. We finally have an opportunity to drain the swamp and need to get on it pronto.

I’d like to believe there is a game plan going on between Trump and Sessions.

Otherwise it’s ugly.

Instead of hammering away at Sessions giving the “Slimes “ and the globullers what they want. The talking points with this should be;; Citing Session’s possible reasons for taking that position. Comparisons the roles the two former Obama AG’s Lynch and Holder played. Like Holder’s silence and complicity which allowed Obama to create racial divisions leading up to the BLM movement.

Beginning with his use of “The Bully Pulpit” during the post Zimmerman trial period where black gangs acting on those “could have been my son” Could have been me” statements led to a score to series of murders and assaults on anybody who was not white such as the Christopher Lane shooting in Duncan Oklahoma by Crypt gang members.

Same here. I don’t see it either. All I see is Trump and his appointees going along to try and get along. As usual. Sure Trump runs his mouth but this crap has been ongoing with no real pushback since he took office.

That rumor was referring to a “Black Sunday” and that it would be this month. We don’t have long to wait to see if the rumor had anything to it. If the crescendo of “events” is any indication, it could very well be true.

Confirms my suspicion — shared by some others here — that the NYT interview was staged for some strategic reason.

Could very well be
Sessions with Trump's behind the scenes blessing proving he can't be pressured

Using the NYT only makes sense that way

This is a possibility. Trump is a master of the 3-D chess rope-a-dope.

Still, I am not happy about Sessions’ love of asset forfeiture.

Agree.

Can Mr. Sessions UN-recuse himself? I am hoping it is some sort of deep strategy. It certainly was an odd thing for the President to do, given the relationship with the NYT.

Trump’s remarks on Sessions are a purposeful distraction to deflect any attention to the Hillary et al investigations underway.

The FBI director needs to be in place ASAP.

Sessions in DC to long. Part of the Deep State more than likely as he is letting this crap continue and not countering it.

The recusal was in reference to the specific Russian investigation. It had nothing to do with the daily work of the AG’s office.

Sessions is the most honorable AG we have had for some time.
He also schooled the left with his last senate testimony.

Trump and Sessions are adults and will reconcile.

Sessions has close to an open and shut case against the criminal Hillary...

During the campaign Trump specifically promised that he would direct his Attorney General to appoint an independent prosecutor to investigate Clinton.

“Yes, at anytime and anywhere he wants to do it.”

Well about that, when Sessions testified about a month ago the first thing the rats did was have re-commit his recusal including the statue that is supposedly it fell under as if any them would EVER reicuse. So he is on record saying he will stay recused. The second thing the rats did was have him go in record saying he would not fire Mueller. The rats entire focus is the coup. Jeff is naive at best.
